Cagayan de Oro's Divisoria is a hawkers haven. Without haggling, prices are very, very reasonable Fast food chains, ATMs, Flea Markets, Bargain centers, convenience stores and so much more fill up this area.
During the night, especially during the weekends(I am debating whether I should make a separate night life tip or not), it is one of the most happening places in the heart of the city. Besides the night market, the most popular clubs and KTV places can be found here. There is something that the whole family can enjoy.
Tip:Click the links :-D
In Manila, Divisoria(the greater Divisoria area is bisected by Claro M. Recto Avenue. Sidestreets containing the various shops, stalls and markets branch out from this main boulevard. The most popular of these sidestreets are Juan Luna, Ylaya, Tabora, Santo Cristo and Soler. The area boxed in by Recto, Juan Luna, Santo Cristo and Comercio streets is considered by some to be the center of Divisoria. The Tutuban area, used to be the most beautiful gateway to the provinces via the Philippine National Railways) lives up to the Spanish meaning: a "línea divisoria", "línea divisoria de las aguas" or "divisoria de drenaje" is a 'watershed', a 'drainage divide', 'a boundary between adjacent catchment basins'. A place that DIVIDES. A divisor.
It is also a place where you can haggle, ergo, you sort of divide the prices.
Cagayan de Oro'sDivisoria is somewhat similar. Plaza Divisoria (Golden Friendship Park) built in the early 1900's as a town divider (Divisoria) or fire breaker after a great fire that almost burned down the entire town. It is now a park dedicated to local and national heroes like %l[]Ramon Magsaysay, still the most beloved Philippine President, who was rumored to have courted someone in the City of Golden Friendship, but besides that, he found peace in Cagayan de Oro so he frequented the place. Our National Hero who proved that the pen is mightier than sword, Jose Rizal, is also honored here.
Visitors might wonder who, upon seeing his monument, who Justiniano R. Borja is. He was the mayor of Cagayan de Oro City from 1954 to 1964. He was responsible for the economic growth and opened the Cogon Public Market in 1959. He was called the "Arsenio Lacson of Cagayan de Oro" and was appointed as city mayor in 1954. He died in his office on October 3, 1964.
Historian and anthropologist Dr. Antonio J. Montalvan II wrote that Borja was called the Arsenio Lacson of Cagayan de Oro because "he was, above all, no-nonsense. He ruled without fear or favor. He had political will. Most importantly, he remained simple and would walk to and from his office without any bodyguards. His funeral cortege, which I personally witnessed, was attended by legions of Kagay-anons, many of whom openly wept at the sight of his bier which was placed atop a decorated float. Shops and establishments were closed for business at their own behest."
Borja is the only city mayor who has been given multiple honors, proof of how much he was loved by the city that he served so well. There are J.R Borja Street, JR Borja Memorial Medical Hospital (City Hospital) and a statue located at Plaza Divisoria (Golden Friendship Park). He was the only city mayor of Cagayan de Oro given a doctorate degree "Honoris Causa" in public administration by Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan in 1963. Many male babies were named Justiniano, complete with the nickname of Tiñing.

I was not able to spend a lot of time at this mall, but the people from Cagayan are very proud of this place.
If I were from Cagayan, I would be proud of this place too.
It is clean and there are many fun activities for the whole family.
The interior design is pleasing to the eyes and the sales mix is good.
There are many fun places to go to and you can shop til you drop.
They have cinemas too, but I haven't tried watching a movie there, so I cannot really talk about it, but I judging the surroundings, I bet it's state-of-the-art too!
For the gourmands out there, there are lots of casual fine dining, fine dining and fast food centers around.
There are coffee places and joints with live bands.
Limketkai Center roughly comprises of a mall, a hotel, and fabulous eateries.
I found this piece quite interesting: Limketkai:ThirstyThought so please check it out too. :)
and do check their website for more info. :)

We haven't got a package during our trip as all the travel agencies advertised in the CDO gov't website cannot be contacted so we organized our own. From experience, I know that travel agencies in Manila charges way way too much :). Better to contact a local travel agent during your travels.
Van rental CDO-Dahilayan (8 hours) - P3.5K (I guess you can negotiate for a lower price)
Dahilayan Zip Zone fee - P600/pax (3 diff zipline)
White Water Rafting - P700/pax (min of 5 pax. You'll have to pay P875/pax if you are only 4. Includes transpo to/from the site)
Van rental CDO to Balingoan Port - P2,000 (or you can take a bus if you have time)
Ferry from Balingoan to Camiguin - approx P400 2-way
Camiguin Package - P1,400/pax (food ex)
Enjoy the trip!

Hi Arsenio!
We've just spent the weekend (Jan 6-9) at Northern Mindanao covering CDO-Bukidnon and Camiguin. White water rafting has already resumed 2 days after typhoon Sendong. Don't worry, the part where they conduct the activity is at the mountainous part of the city so the river's water passes through the rafting site first before going to the city then finally to the sea. We actually tried it yesterday and it was FUN!
As for the sked of Super Cat, try this:
http://www.camiguin-island.com/getting-there.shtml
I cannot find any official site to verify the sked. We traveled through Balingoan Port anyway.
For accom, you can contact our tourguide. Her family has cottages for rent very near Paras Resort. I'll PM her contact number.

If you want to experience water rafting the best place to do it is in Cagayan de Oro. I forgot how many rapids we had but my experience was so amazing and unforgettable. And for the Longest Zipline in the Philippines do it here. We contact Zipzone and we have no problem with anything.

3 ziplines.
a. 840m zipline while in Superman position.
b. 320m zipline and 100 something meter zipline. Sitdown position
Great views, great experience.
Very important tip: AVOID WEEKENDS as line gets really long. Zipline experience itself wouldn't take a minute for each line.

There is the beginner course, and advanced course. When we went there, the weather was not raining, but was not sunny. Water was a bit cold but it was okay. Definitely a must when going to Cagayan de Oro. There are different services provided, i recommend Kagay, as they even fetched us from and to our hotel/inn.
I would recommend trying the advanced course(even if it was my first time) as it is more fun and there are more rapids. There's a trial mode at the start so there's nothing to be surprised with. It cost Php1000/head
