The Premier Whitewater Kayaking destination in the Philippines. The rapids is accessible all year round. You can choose from Cagayan River which run through city CBD. Amenities are very close. And Creeking is also available at F.S. Catanico falls, but water can be low during the summer. See their website for more details.

If you are in Cagayan de Oro never hesitate to experience Whitewater Rafting Adventure... The most famous tourist attraction (In my opinion) here in Northern MIndanao..

Experience Class 1 to 6 rapids that will leave you breathless. There are two packages to choose from. The basic P700 pax and the Advance P1000 pax... The basic course will run through 16 rapids with an estimated travel time of 2-2.5 hours. The advance is much longer with 24 rapids with an estimated travel time of 3.5-4 hours. Add P150 pax to include meals in your package.

Btw, package price already include rafting gears and transportation to Kabula and back to Divisoria (city proper)

I suggest you take the advance course. Nevermind if you are a beginner coz the experience is just awesome.. The guides were also experts. They know the thrilling and safe sides of each rapid. So don't worry bout getting overboard.

I suggest you book with Kagay Rafting. They have been in this business for more than 10 years and one of the pioneers in Whitewater adventures in this City. THe owner is also a good friend of mind.

You can contact me if you wanna book Coz I live here in Cagayan de oro mike--09279963545..

    CDO: white water rafting

    by master_oj Written Oct 28, 2008

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Cagayan De Oro City is known for its longest river called Cagayan River. Philippines has a lot to offer when it comes to water sports and white water rafting is one of them. There are several companies offering adventure packages which includes: Jeepney service (to and from your hotel), whitewater rafting gears (helmet and life vest), lunch package, zip line, trekking, spelunking etc. Depending on your chosen course, you'll have 2 options: Basic and Advance course. Basic consists of 14 rapids ranging from class 1 to 3. The higher the class is the more exciting it becomes. The highest class here is Class 6. We took the basic course which is good enough for chickens, I mean starters like me. =) The advance course has a lot more to offer. It will take you to 24 rapids ranging from class 1 to 6. Hmm… very exciting don’t you think.

Cost: 1,080 Php per head as of Oct 2008 (Less than $25 USD)

    Ride around using a jeepney!

by machomikemd Updated Sep 10, 2008

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Renting a jeepney is practical since it is run on Diesel and diesel in asia is cheaper!!! (they subsidize the diesel by increasing the price of gasoline) but as everyone knows, diesel is the more expensive fuel outside asia. You can rent a jeepney for a day at 2,500 to 3,500 pesos including the driver (now if you are about 10 in a group, that will only cost just 300 pesos each!) and you can cruise at your own time anyhwere in the city!

    Available everywhere

    Go To Camiguin

by machomikemd Updated Sep 10, 2008

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Camiguin is a small Island Province Paradise just north of Cagayan De Oro City but going there is not easy since there are no ferry service in the City Itself but you have to take a 2 hour ride to Tagoloan town, about 80 kilometers east of the city and ride a RORO (Roll On Roll Off) ferry to Camiguin Island. But the wait will be worth it! you can circle the island via a jeep in just 40 minutes and see it's spectacular volcanoes (7 in All, the tallest is Mount Hibok Hibok and all are active!), the sunken cemetery, the white sands, the ruined churhches, hot and cold spring pools and a lot more!

    Go To Iligan City

by machomikemd Updated Sep 10, 2008

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Iligan City was the first Industrial City in Northern Mindanao but during the 1970's, industries were not doing well so a number closed and then it was overtaken by the more progressive Cagayan De Oro City. Today it is more known as the City of Majestic Waterfalls (there are around 23 waterfalls in and around Iligan) and Home of the Maria Cristina Falls, the Largest Water Falls in the philippines that supplies hydro-electric power to Mindanao island, it is also known as the ancestral Home of the Current Philippine President and for it's sumptious "Lechon" (roast pig) and vinegar called "pinakurat". It is a 90 kilometer drive from Cagayan De Oro City and it takes about 2 1/2 hours to go there.

    White Water Rafting

by machomikemd Updated Sep 10, 2008

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

You can call the website below if you want to experinece white water rafting in the Cagayan River, they will arrange the transport and the difficulty level of the ride. White Water rafting is fairly a new phenomenom in Cagayan De Oro as they just recently discovered that the Cagayan River has many whirpools, under currents and twist and turns that makes it a good area for white water rafting. the easy course is about 18 kilometers long and takes 2 1/2 hours just remember to bring water proofed camera or else!

This is a 30min ride from the city. The beach is clean and nice and there's a nice marine sanctuary where you can do snorkeling. But you need to bring your own gear because there's nothing for rent unless you're checked in in Apple Tree :)

    Mapawa River Trek & Canyoneering

    by anliz99 Written Aug 31, 2008

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is a full day activity that starts at about 7am to 2pm. That is depending on how fast the group is and how brave :) Can be 3 hours longer...

See my intro page for the details but basically, this includes a wild ride on a monstrous truck up and down a mountain, a trek up the waterfalls, a slide down a 20ft natural waterfalls slide, a jump from a 30-ft rock and a rappelling down a 65-ft cliff wall beside raging waters. Exciting? You bet!!!

Package is P950 per pax which includes lunch. Minimum number of people is 5. We also did the zipline afterwards at P100 per pax.

A really must-do! Adrenaline pumping experience. You will also be facing your fears...heights, blind jump...

Contact person is either Iggy or Louie Pelaez at 09209555978. You need to book and pay 3 days in advance for this adventure. Quite worth it!

    Pinoy Rafting/Tubing!

    by anliz99 Written Aug 31, 2008

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

We were told to try this adventure and it's supposed to be more exciting than the usual western rafting. Sure glad we did it after the Western Rafting. Quite exhilirating! It really is more adventurous to try it this way. First, you are half-submerged in water all the time and each little wave/rapid is felt. What more the big ones! On the 2nd rapid, we already went underwater. I let go of the tube because I thought it already flipped. Apparently, it did not, we just went below a big wave, one that is called 'washing machine' because it was really churning! So the guide had to rescue me and my friend back to our tubes. The second time, we hit a really strong rapid and since I was in front, I got the brunt of the force and somersaulted to the back which of course flipped all our tubes. Everyone had to rescue back the 3 of us. Whew!!! Bring it on!

The group that does this is Dome or Great White Water Tours. Apparently, they're the only ones that offer this exciting ride. Rate is at P1200 per pax but their service is excellent. This is a 21kms ride and includes a yummy pastel merienda in between and an eat-all-you-can lunch at the end of the ride. Quite worth the price difference. Contact person is Gerome Garcia at 09194043930. Website is http://riverrafting.onestopwebworks.com/

    Whitewater Rafting

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

A must do in CDO. There are a lot of companies in CDO doing this trip. The one we tried for the Western style Whitewater Rafting is Kagay and they are quite competent and nice.

Contact person is Dan Kamino at 09177122323. Rate is P700 per pax for the beginner's course, about 12kms and usually 7 per raft. If you're less than 7, they usually put you together with other groups. Website is http://www.cdorafting-map.com/

Another group to check out is Dome or Great White Water Tours. Rate is higher at P1200 per pax but their service is excellent. This is a 21kms ride and includes a yummy pastel merienda in between and an eat-all-you-can lunch at the end of the ride. Quite worth the price difference. Wet and wild

by GenuinelyCurious Updated May 28, 2008

    4 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

You can do an honest couple of class II and a dozen more class I rapids here in Cagayan de Oro river. I was blessed with a break in the rain from the recent cyclones at the shank end of the dry season for a gloriously sunny day (and a couple of rainbows).

The setting couldn’t be more perfect for a ride on the river with the occasional splash from the rapids, our guide and fellow participants. The water was refreshing and the rapids exciting though not overly challenging. A more advanced route with more class II and a class III rapids is an option, but you need to have at least 6 people to persuade the purveyor to run it.

I called a couple of companies (there are at least 3) and found Kagay’s receptionist the most congenial and easy to work with. From my less-than-skilled eye, I’d say the guides and boats are all on a par.
