Malate [prounouced: mah LAH tay]
Handsdown, the most happening place in Manila for night life is Malate - when I was there at least. No other place else I have been to have I seen such a concentration of people in such a concentrated area devoted to bars and clubs. Ok, perhaps not as concentrated as Lan Kwai Fong in Hong Kong, but Malate is bigger. All the clubs I went to were quite packed. The loungy, sit-down kind of places were always almost to capacity as well. Very lively. And when there was a street party, it was fun-o-rama!! Always had a great time when I went there. And at night, without the traffic, getting around Manila was surprisingly fast. I was staying in Makati, and still that was the place I went to the most on the weekends. If you're staying in Manila proper, then you might even be within walking distance to it! Definitely worth checking out. Suitable for practically all sorts, though the not-yet-legal and 20-somethings dominate. Lots of tourists and ex-pats as well.
Dress Code: Depends on where you're going, dress accordingly. Club wear would be most appropriate. If you're a foreigner you can get away with anything though.

Nice tasting Japanese and Korean food with a live band to accompany you. Right on the bay so it's a very nice view. Only problem is the smell.
Dress Code: Dress whatever... but it's always best to look good.

Care to go to a rave in a dungeon?
Dress Code: Anything goes, but Manila's party set likes to dress to the nines. No slippers, please.

Q: How much is the most affordable beach footwear that I can use even under water? (--,) Thanks. -Ralf Luwee

A: A little off-topic but I recall Imelda Marcos, former Philippine First Lady, was (or still is) a bit of a shoe-addict - around three thousand pairs!

Capital City of the Philippines

Manila is underrated as a tourist destination. It has fun places to go to. And plenty of history and art also. This is a picture of Intramuros at night.
