The departure area section of the Francisco Bangoy International Airport. The departure area is Huge and The Check-in counters are equipped with electronic weighing scales and conveyors and its baggage handling system is also computerized. There are lots of shops and restaurants around the 2 level area selling assorted souvenirs and food and even a massage center.
Davao City is the Largest City in the Mindanao Island area hence is the Busiest Airport in the Island. The airport features a 3-kilometer long runway and currently serves domestic flights to Davao City for the big four (PAL, Cebu Pacific, Asian Spirit, and Air Philippines) as well as international flights to Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. It is publicly operated by the government’s Air Transportation Office, the arrival area is small and has not a lot of shops in the domestic arrival area part and sometimes they don't use the airbridges for arriving passengers but instead, they walk form the plane to the tarmac to the terminal and finally to the waiting rides.
Address is: Sasa, Davao City 8000, Philippines
There are taxicabs available near the arrival area which you can hire to go to the city proper which is about a 20 minute drive away. flag down is 45 pesos for the first 400 meters and 6 pesos per 500 meters afterwards.

the philippines no. 1 airline and low cost carrier (although not necessarily the best in terms of service, the term you get what you pay for applies here!).
Cebu Pacific Air is the No. 1 Low Budget Carrier in the Philippines (in domestic travel but in international travel, Philippine Airlines is still the Number 1 and I still prefer Philippine Airlines because if love the frills and the better legroom). The airline is a wholly-owned subsidiary of JG Summit Holdings, controlled by the Gokongwei family - one of the richest Filipino-Chinese families based in the Philippines. Cebu Pacific is currently headed by Lance Gokongwei, it's CEO. Cebu Pacific has the largest domestic destinations and it flies 5 times a day to and from Davao City. Fares are cheaper is you buy 1 month in advance (usually about 5,000 pesos including all sucharges like airport tax, security fee and fuel surcharge).
their Main Office is in:
Airline Operations Center Building
Manila Domestic Airport Complex
Old Domestic Road
Pasay City

I will never fly Cebu Pacific again because some of their practices towards their pasengers, according to my legal counsel, is illegal, at least here.
I would rather take my chances on a doomed flight than ever fly Cebu Pacific again.

The Davao airport is very roomy and clean. When you arrive there are no hordes or warm bodies pressing you. You get out, cross the street where you get to the main arrival area. Metered taxis form a line to the left.

Unless you're already on Mindanao, you better take a plane. From the USA it's a very long flight, but the experience is well worth the travel time.
There are numerous methods of transportation available in Davao. There are tricycles, a cart with a motorcycle attached to transport people and there are also jeepney's, which are like a bus. I found the best way to travel was by taxi.
We had a few different taxi drivers, but the best, most reliable, honest and safest was Joey. Joey is reliable, has a clean cab, drives safely, known his way around the area, and he's punctual. What more could you ask for? If you use him tell him I recommended him and say hi to Joey for me! He's a great guy!
He can be reached loaclly in Davao at cell phone number 0919429-4295, or 0920-367-0489 (Joey & his cousin Edgar).

From Manila, you can take direct flights of Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific or Air Philippines. Flying time is approximately one hour and 35 minutes. From Cebu, Davao is 55 minutes away. One can also fly to Davao from Cagayan de Oro and Zamboanga City. One can also take the longer but infinitely more exciting island route via the Pan Philippine Highway from Manial to Davao. Likewise, numerous passenger ships dock at Davao from other ports around the country. International airlines connect Davao to key cities in Asia
It's advisable to travel light. Apaprt from the fabled jeepney, taxicabs are plentiful as well. One can also avail of the numerous rent-a-cars. Inquire from the hotel concierge.
