This no frills restaurant, situated near a creek, was even visited by politicians like our deposed president, Estrada. My former coworkers (bankers) always recommend this place. According to them, it serves the best grilled tuna.
Wooden benches and tables and no AC contribute to the local flavor!
Tuna aficionados, mostly office workers, come in droves in this hole in the wall eatery!
Favorite Dish: Grilled yellow fin tuna (inihaw=grilled, panga=jaw)
Serving of tuna is so big and cheap so my friend and I just ordered one and even took half of it home! Just put in a foil to preserve it.
Soysauce with calamansi (local version of lemon) brings out the taste of your tuna
Our first evening meal we shared in Davao was at a place called Jacks Ridge. This was the coolest place in Davao...and I mean that literally. This restaurant sits on the top of a hill in Davao and at night you can see a spectacular view of the city lights.
The food and service was excellent. The prices were extremely reasonable also. I would strongly recommend this as a must experience restaurant and on our next trip to Davao we will go there moer than once.
Favorite Dish: This trip wasn't quite as pleasant as my previous visit. They were out of two items, those I did order were sub-standard. The service was also a problem. They wanted me to order all of my food at once. No. That's unacceptable. Once I set them on the correct path, everything was mostly OK, as far as the service went. They had a real problem getting COLD beverages (water & Diet Coke) to me in a timely manner.
If you're into seafood, Nanay Bevengs is the place for you. This seafood buffet is exceptionally nice. The food is high quality, service is good and the price is very reasonable. If you like seafood and fish you'll love this place.
I have only 1 complaint about this place which is they need to offer food in addition to seafood, like chicken, or leechon. I don't like seafood, so I didn't eat much, although I did find FRESH smoked tuna that was very good. Unfortunately, our second trip there it wasn't.
If you like seafood you'd probably give it a 9-10, or say very satisfied, but keep my assessment in perspective since I don't like seafood or fish.
Favorite Dish: One buffet item I really liked was a FRESH smoked tuna. It wasn't fishy tasting and was very good.
As always, the rice was good.
There are 3 different restaurants in this one big gazebo-like complex, one serving grilled food (open-air restaurant), the other one Mongolian food and the one which I visited serve local food like crispy pata (deep fried pork knuckles), calamari and longganiza (sausage).
As you can see in the picture, everyone is drinking coconut water juice straight from its source!
In the garden, there is a small playland for kids.
Harana is a local term for serenade.
Since I was not able to scale Mt. Apo, I contented myself with viewing it from a distance at the Top of the Apo (restaurant in the uppermost floor of Apo View Hotel, a 5 star hotel).
The restaurant has unobstructed view of the city and Mt. Apo at a distance. Go and walk near the long glass-panelled windows and experience the sunset or the sunrise there, it's breathtaking.
Since I had buffet dinner, I was not able to clearly view Mt. Apo. So I suggest you take breakfast there since it opens as early as 5 am and closes at 2 am.

The restaurant is truly unique in Davao; it already starts with the name “De Bonte Koe” that by the way is Dutch. When you enter the Restaurant, you receive a warm welcome of the staff they make you feel instant home. The place has a great ambiance, tasteful decorated with picture frames of cows and other European artist. All the way around, a great collection of all kind small items as, Wooden Shoe’s (klompen) & Windmills, etc. They even have a special round table with stuffed animals for the kids or lovers.
The Service, Menu and Kitchen are outstanding, like the place it self, you can tell they have good taste and eye for the smallest details.
The Restaurant is located in one of the oldest compounds in town (Mediterranean style) away from the streets, it invites you to dine or just sit outside, without the fumes or loud street noise, instead a nice cool breeze. Wow, so peaceful after a long day in the city. De Bonte Koe is well know among the expats, and often used as a social meeting place according to the owner.
Favorite Dish: We had several different dishes, for starters Smoked Eel (paling) and Marinated (raw) Salmon, Followed by, Mango Soup, Smoked Eel soup, (Dutch) Onion soup and clear Asparagus soup.
For the main course we had chosen, Steak Tatar, Kangaroo, Ostrich and a Pepper-steak. They all included site dishes (Potato, FF, Rice and sautéed vegetables). They carry a good selection of wines.
For Dessert, Apple-pie, Home made ice-cream with fresh fruits and Durian float.
The finishing touch, Coffee accompanied by a good glass of Remy Martin. Irish coffee (with real Irish whiskey).
You can tell without any doubt, the chefs in the kitchen, the staff in the dining, know what they are doing. They put heart in their work. Unique!.
We have to come back; we like to try the other dishes on the menu. For sure, we will not be disappointed. Price quality rate, Absolute worth it, and very reasonable.
For the finest in elegant white table cloth dinning, Dencia's is the destination you'll be glad you experienced. This restaurant will apeal to both locals, Filipinas and those of us from the Western world. The foods will appeal to almost anyone, and have a strong appeal to the locals.
The service is excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful. They strive to accomodate even very large groups of people without a reservation. Tipping is NOT allowed.
Favorite Dish: Try the lumpia shanghai (which is really unique), fried chicken, Canton chopped suey, and pork adobo are fabulous! They even have diet coke!
Most restaurants not found in malls close from 2-5pm so we were lucky to have found this restaurant which serve lunch at 4pm. There are 2 Ahfat restaurants, one serving seafood and the other Chinese food.
Typical of Chinese restaurants, the small place has round tables which can seat 10-12 people.
Aquariums of fish and crabs can be found.
Favorite Dish: Steamed fish - so fresh and tender!
Green seafood soup
Cecil's Bakeshop is the old kid on the block - it has been around for 40 years and has maintained a loyal customer base. Other than the durian pie, its menu is not exotic.
It is true to its food and does not cheat on the ingredients. There is a consistent quality - whether it is the pancit lug-lug, moist chocolate cake, eclair, cream puff or the mocha chiffon cake.
Most of all, I love the feel of unaffected Davao before the invasion of the fastfood chains. (If it serves better coffee the next time around, i will give it "A Great Experience" rating).
Favorite Dish: Pancit lug-lug /palabok (noodles), durian pie, moist chocolate cake.
A 12-person lauriat will cost approximately P6,500. If stuffing yourself silly is not your style, order ala carte (garlic crabs, salt and pepper ribs are recommended). Budget around P350 to 400 per person for a 5-course dinner (hot sour soup, tanguigue kinilaw, garlic crabs, grilled pompano, ribs and fried rice). Since the servings are quite generous, it is best to be in a group of 8 or more if you wish to sample more of the menu offerings.
This is one of the best restaurants Davao has to offer. The food is western for the most part, but numerous Filipino dishes are available. They have a breakfast buffet that is one of the best in Davao City. Actually, it may be the only breakfast buffett still operating, at least the only one I know of.
Aside from the best mango shake in the world, one appeal is they have a good selection of Filipino foods, but there is a fair selections of foods to appeal to the Western palet. They have a great selection of food, omlets can be customized with a nice selection of add in for your omlet and nice selection of meat, generally ham and bacon.
Besides having a great selection of foods, it tastes good also!
Favorite Dish: You've got to try the mango shake. It'll drop your body temperature by 10 degrees, maybe 20 degrees!!! It is cold and refreshing. I've had them from a lot of places in the Philippines, but this one is the BEST!!!
This is always our very first stop after we arrive in Davao, and it always will be, unless I can find a better mango shake somewhere else. But I doubt I ever will. The best part of trying to find the best mango shake is trying them all!!!

I loved the fact they had an incredible childrens play area where they could play, as long as they were supervised by someone responsible. It was a great combination!

I am Italian living in italy. I work around the world and i try a new Italian restaurant in Davao; called Antichi Sapori Ristorante. The menu is good and the special offer by Chef Fabrizio are very high quality. The level of the food are very good and the chef very accomodating. The pizza is very big and good. I can say that this place can compite with ,any restaurant in Italy.
Favorite Dish: Is many i try The tagliatelle with Truffle & Mush room are very taste and creamy. The penne with Sundry Tomatoes and Shrimps are mouthwatering. And the meat. the Tenderlion served in many different sauce from Green Pepper sauce to Artichokes or Mushroom Sauce cook really as you ask.
Typical Chinese restaurant so don't expect a quiet meal. Very reasonable prices and food is tasty! I visit this restaurant every time I go home. Or I always order take-out!
