Off to vanishing island to vanish LOL...

We went to this place that they call Vanishing Island in Samal. There is actually an easier way to reach the place but we opted on a more tedious way since we got a lot of things to bring to the cottage. Personally I think that if you are the kind who's not used to trekking or going beyond the usual places then this is not for you. We went to a place in Samal called Tambo and take the small motorboats there in going to the cottage in the middle of the ocean. During high tides, there are less problems but during low tides, you have to walk a few distance wading on the water to where the motorboat is docking since they can't go up to the seashore. I find this experience fun and in fact when we get to the cottage everything turned out to be worthwhile. Stayed there for two nights and enjoy most time we stayed there.

Tinuy-an Falls

Tinuy-an Falls is located in a deep ravine in Barangay Borboanan, Bislig City. The falls plunges 55 metres (180 ft) high from the top of the three tiered cascading waterfalls.The falls is approximately 55 metres (180 ft) high, touted as the Niagara Falls of the Philippines, Tinuy-an is a white water curtain that flows in three levels. It is one of the best waterfalls in the entire Philippines because of its majestic and unique natural formation.At a breathtaking width of 95 meters, it is said to be the widest in the country. Centuries old amazing giant trees, ferns and vines in a thick rainforest envelop your ride through thick forested hills that enclose the falls. Islets are on the swimming ground, with slippery logs where you can cross for a good view, plus multi-layered stones as pathways. Bislig is approximately 208 kilometers northeast of Davao City (7-8hrs), 152 kilometers south...

Only in Davao City: Kasaginggan Coffee Shop

Only in Davao City, the Kasaginggan Coffee Shop has turned the ordinary banana-que to a sophisticated one. The Coffee is good and cheap. Latte is around Php 50. Wi-fi connection is free. And you can hang out there as long as you can but of course order a drink or two. It has two branches: one on torres street and the other is new at Roxas Boulevard near Ateneo de Davao University.

Souverni Shops

We visitors often find ourselves so engrossed with other thing that we forget to drop by in this little place called a Souvenir Shops. In this place we will find things we could bring with us as token of our wonderful time in the place we visited, bring home some memorabilia to our loved ones and friends we have left behind in our hometown.We indeed have a nice time visiting the Croc Park and doing the Wild Water Adventure. This small souvernir shop in the Croc Park sells shirts, croc keychains, etc which are so affordable...The hat my good friend is wearing is also for sale...

Loleng's Mountain Spring Resort is always by passed by travelers going to eden nature park, they also have cotages ranging from 1,500 pesos to 4,500 pesos all equiped with TV, T&B. a swimming pool, function rooms and other amenities.

Mainit Falls

Ahh! the beauty that can't be explained nor be described! located at the northern part of davao city in Masara, Mawab, Compostela Valley Province. its a 1 hour 45 to 2 hrs travel depending on traffice by private car. "preferably a pick-up car for the road is quite rough". going there by public transport is exausting, you take a bus going to Tagum City tavel time is 1hr and 30 min. then take a jeep ride "will wait untill the jeep is full of passengers and god knows how much time will be spent waiting" to masara, tell the driver to drop you at the junction road going to new leyte. its the road going to the by then the masara mining. its a 500 to 600 meters walk uphill. remember, this is an interior place so transportation going back is scarce. Private transportation is more preferable.

Hidden Paradise of the Davao Oriental

Masao is an island surrounded by yet other islands. these hidden paradise is a little hard to access but definitely worth the 3.5hours travel from Davao city and another 2 hours boat (small motor pumped local fisherman's boat) from Mati. The trip going and coming out from the island was an adventure in itself.The beauty and serenity of the place and the simplicity of life there will surely blow anyone away. We went there holy week of 2006 and i only spent PHP1,500 for one week stay... and that already included fare and food for me, my two kids and my sister... No entrance fees, No hotel accommodation so you need to know somebody from there to be able to visit the place.. We were lucky the family that offered us roof over our head have concrete CR and bathroom, most of the houses there didn't have the same privilege.Marine life was abundant... the delicious colored fish we bought every...

Probably the one of the biggest and more popular church in Davao City. The seat of the archdiocese of Davao City.Located along Claveria (CM Recto) Street, most of the jeepeneys go through near the church.

This is one the fruits which i describe to be the best, the most delicious and the most intoxicating! Believe me when you visit Davao, be sure to try to taste the superb Durian, especially when it is frozen. Davaoeños would often eat the fruit alongside the street when someone is selling it for a good price, especially during the Kadayawan. Sometimes you need not not to open the thick thorny skin yourself, some vendors are kind enough to open the fruit themselves for it would help them to make an extra earning. This what gives the customers a sense of appreciation to the vendors' little effort.But, ahh...what a taste! For sure you'll miss Davao without it!
