Dusk till Dawn: Davao's best kept secret!

by tsokoholic

They serve Native chicken Barbecue, pork barbecue, grilled seafood. kinilaw (raw fish in vinegar dressing), soup. The place has no airconditioning but is clean. Food is only cooked upon ordering. They serve the best Native Chicken Barbecue in Town. Be sure to ask for the marinade sauce when they serve you the chicken. Add soy sauce and kalamansi and dip the chicken in. Yum! eat while its hot. Try the imbao soup & the lato salad (sea weeds).

yellow fin: place is great we just got back from eating.

by pauly77bud

Food was good, the front part of the resturant is buffet style, however if you walk to the back it is resturant style w/air conditioning. Menu goes from steak to seafood and all was well. Inexpensive as well. spicy shrimp as well as the mixed seafood soup, enough for three or four.

Ahfat Seafood Plaza: Delicious local Chinese

by iclee

Fast service, extensive menu, attentive waiters, fresh SEAFOOD.If you think that's your cup of tea then go to Ahfat. They have branched out to several outlets nearby to accommodate the growing demand for Ahfat's dishes. They accept credit cards and are open . You have a choice between frozen lobster or fresh-swimming-in-the-tank ones. :) Crispy noodle.

Kangaroo: Best coffee house in Davao City

by evangelistdan

This is absolutely the best coffee house in Davao City. The help is very friendly and helpful. The food and the coffee are simply great. It is also a very quite and relaxing place to go. The decor is very pleasing and t's very very clean. The Civit coffee is great.I highly recommend this place. I'm from the USA and I make it a point to visit here every time we come to visit. The US coffee shops can't even come close to this place. The coffee is the best.

Kanaway Restaurant- Ecoland: Local food

by catadorganizer

Kanaway-Ecoland doesn't exist anymore. The place was changed to Emer's Hotel and Resort. The sea shore was blocked by a wall already. We didn't eat there, we just inspectd the place coz its not the same as desrcibed in 2005, in the previous review.

Penong's: Fresh Seafood

by catadorganizer

The ambience is cozy, you will feel that you are in the local area. It was fully packed, we have to stand up after our dinner to give way to new comers. Tuna kilawin is like tuna sashimi but in vinegar. The tinolang isda with "kulot-kulot" is intriguing but the "Kulot-kulot" was not available, we ordered it just the same, with same price. Our dinner for five cost P605; tinola, kinilaw and crispy pata. Unlimited rice for p15 each.

Basti's: Relaxed

by monina_c

They serve local and international dishes. The resto is located on the Ground floor of Victoria Mall. The crew are nice and well trained... the service is quick. Most important of all is that their ladies room is clean and well kept. I liked their durian smoothie and the pesto isn't bad. :)

Toryano: Local Food

by monina_c

This is touted to be one of the best in local cuisine. They are reputed to serve the best grilled native chicken in the city so I just had to try it.Toryano's is located in front of the Apo View Hotel and next door to D'Counter Executive Dormitory. The place is clean and the food crew neat. They have all-rice-you-can-eat promo. They have a crew who walks around the resto with a rice basket ready to top your plate as often as you want. :) The grilled native chicken was a little tougher than the broiler but it was more flavorful. the marinade was nothing fancy so the natural flavors of the meat dominated the food. I ordered their grilled pork which was also served simply. The imbao (mangrove clam, Anodontia edentula) soup was interesting (the restaurant orders it from General Santos everyday). They also serve beers and other alcoholic drinks. All the food served in Toryano's can be shared...

Karlo's Coffee Station: Sip Some Lovely Coffee and Drink in the Scene

by KookieDough

I was able to go to 3 cafes in Davao City and Karlo's Americano tops the list for me. It has the right flavor and smoothness.A tall cup of Americano costs PHP56. I also ordered a slice of Chocolate cake, PHP78.40, which tasted good enough - nothing out of the ordinary, but it's dark and delicious.Karlo's Coffee Station, being located at Jack's Ridge, gives a gorgeous view of Davao City. It is a must to go here in after dinner. A great place for relaxing and chatting with your friends.

Taklobo Restaurant: Excellent View, Food Just OK

by KookieDough

This is one of the outlets located on Jack's Ridge - the recommended hangout location for people who'd like to see the gorgeous mountaintop view of Davao City. Best to go here in the evening. However, don't expect anything extraordinary about Taklobo's dishes. The grilled squid was just fine, nothing special. I ordered the suha (pomelo) shake, thinking that it would taste great, because, after all, Davao boasts of their homegrown pomelos. I was disappointed, because it tasted more like sugar and water - not much of the sweet and sour pomelo taste there. However, my husband and I loved their Fresh Mushroom Soup with Sili (Chili) Leaves. I've never thought of putting in sili leaves in clear mushroom soup. I'm actually thinking of trying it at home.Price is much like all the other restaurants in Davao City - very reasonable. About 150-200 per dish which is good for two persons.
