Aha!, what better way to get one's adrenaline pumpin' than a wild trip down the mighty Davao River. It was one sunny October morning when we went to give it a shot. It has been raining for the past few nights, so more or less we were assured of a higher level /class and treacherous waters that day. Plus not to mention it is still rainy season at this time of the year.

All I could say is, it's a once in a lifetime experience. The whole adventure, 13 km. stretch of the Davao River, from lower Tamugan to Lacson, 25 rapids from class 1-3, lasts for 3-4 hours, depending on the difficulty of the water, not to mention time spent on capsizing!, getting our raft stuck in big boulders of rock, and as per personal experience, getting separated from our raft,away from my team mates, and being carried by the current through rapids, smashed into rocks and drinking tankful of mucky, dirty river water!!, despite crying from being scared stiff and at one point really thinking that i'm gonna die( i was already saying my goodbye prayers!), as it felt forever before i got fished out of the water, still nothin beats the excitement that this activity can give you. Wanna give it a go.?....Row d' oar!

Equipment: Wear the most comfortable gear you could wear. And don't forget you will get wet!. Its better not to wear flipflops as there's a bigger chance your flipflops will go swimming with you if ever your raft capsize. The whole group assembles at the Crocodile Park in the city. They have provided lockers there where you can leave all your belongings, including your cellfones/mobile phones. No need to bring them to the site,as there is no signal in the area, plus there's a chance that it'll get wet or lost in the water.

For cameras, obviously, those that can be used in this kind of activity. Bring extra bottled water. Don't forget some sunblock lotion, it'd be in the middle of the day when the sun is at its fiercest when you are paddling your way in the river. All rafting gear are provided for each participant...vest, hat, paddle (duh!).

We paid 1,500 pesos per head and this would include transportation to the area from Cocodile Park , packed lunch, souvenir shirt, and use of gear and equipment. Assembly time is at 8 in the morning. It'd be best to book it first rather than just walk in, as they have to know how many of you in your group and if they need to allocate people into other group.

***THOUGH THE MEETING PLACE IS THE CROCODILE PARK. PLS. NOTE THAT THE CROCODILES ARE ONLY IN THAT PARK, THEY ARE NOT IN THE RIVER WHERE WE WENT RAFTIN ;D

Davao is home to the three 18-hole world class golf courses and a 9-hole golf course. The Apo Golf is located in Dumoy. The Lanang golf course in Lanang and the best among them is Rancho Palos Verdes in Mandug.

Davao has lots of dive sites like...Ligid Island, coral garden. mushroom rock (really strong current), malipano island.

Equipment: There a2 dive shops near sta. ana wharf where one can rent equipment. One of them is wind & wave. Other dive shops are scattered around the city. Pearl farm has a dive shop in the resort.

Went for a great kayaking trip in Davao. Really easy to organize (get in touch with Sonny or Nitta through the 4Play climbing gym) and perfect for those who are not beginners but haven't had lots of kayaking experience.

One of the cheapest place to go wakeboarding both for novice and pros.

Equipment: wear aqua shoes board shorts, swimsuit and rash guard. wakeboards are available for rent and use.

Mindanao is a place in the Philippines where you can find more Dart Boards than Billiard Tables. Davao has nightly Dart trournaments.
