A great way to escape into another "world" would be by driving from Dumaguete to Lake Balanan. There are places to swim, boat, picnic or just relax.

Things to do in dumaguete: Dolphin watching, scuba diving, hiking, mountain climbing etc..
this place has lot to offer. i been there and it's really a beautiful place to me. The people are so nice . By the way, this city is known as the City of Gentle People. You can tour the city by just riding a motorcycle. It's really a cool place to live and spend your vacation. Check it out more here: http://www.dumaguete.com.ph

As mentioned by many Dumaguete travellers, Sans Rival is a must visit restaurant in the city. They offer pasta delicacies that are delicious and sumptuous. However. since we arrive in between 7am and 10am, it was breakfast there. They only offer two options of breakfast like bread, bacon, coffee or bacon, corned beeef, rice, coffee.

So better visit Sans Rival beyond 10am to taste their famous pasta delicacies.

this place is primarily know as a drinking spot replete with a swimming pool and outdoor setting.
but the menu is excellent and i am not sure why the word is not getting out, maybe due to it's location just south of town
the dishes have a decidely french and some mexican influence as the 3 owners are french and very nice people
i am about half way through the menu and have to say the chef matches kri and labas which are much more established restaurants and deservedly soo in town.
anyway black pearl is top 3 in dumaguete
really this place is a hidden treasure for food in dumaguete and worth the try out

Favorite Dish: chicken with bacon wrap in creamy sauce - (classis cordon blue but called galado or something similar)
    meat balls
    creamy sauce with anything
salads, 3 available and all excellent
    mashed potates

One of the best meal I have eaten in the Philippines. The Chef is great, the setting is beautiful

Favorite Dish: The Tomato Soup, Blue Merlin with its sauce, you must visit the place.
