Assorted Maranaw shops: Barter Trade Goods Galore!

by avelmans

Not to be missed is the row of Maranaw stores along Cagampang Street right across the city's public market. Goods from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand compete here with local craft made by Maranaw artists and craftsmen. Prices of a must-have MALONG or SARONG made of Batik or Thai silk are considerably cheaper here than in Manila or nearby Davao. Brassware and wooden utensils also come in cheap. Watch out for T'nalak cloth, woven by T'boli natives of South Cotabato. US$50 will buy you much.

Now catering to the local citizenry are American Fastfood chains KFC, Mister Donut, Dunkin' Donuts & Pizza Hut and Pinoy faves, Jollibee (burgers & chicken), Chow King (oriental food) and Greenwich (pasta & pizza), I Love Sushi (Japanese food), Mandarin Garden, and Nana Bebeng's. Designer shops Guess, Bench, Human, Izzi (leather apparel), Caterpillar, Rusty Lopez, etc have also opened together with a Watch Shop, Jewelry Store,...
