Every visitor to the city must not miss the early morning activities at the Fishport Complex, about 15 kms from downtown Gensan. Here you will witness fishermen hauling in their marine catch of various shapes and sizes. What's most amazing is the goings-on at Market 3 where men carry on their shoulders giant tuna as heavy as 80 kilos from the boats to the market for classifying. This image, man carrying a giant tuna, has become associated with the city.

At general santos city, there's no night life, no where to go, except when you know some locals who could take you to their private gatherings and socials.
The food is also sobrang sarap! fresh tuna - tuna belly, high grade shashimi, and more, all at half a price they're selling in manila! and of course, don't forget to buy gindara! gindara is a kind of fish that works like xenical, it pushes out the fat from your body, and you'll get slimmer after a few months.
