ATM Center

by Kisses&Co

There are lots of ATM around Manila and you will find ATM center as well in the malls. The maximum withdrawal per transaction is only Php 4,000.00 but of course it's depends on the bank. Just be careful, as much as possible and try not to withdraw your money in the public ATM machine.

Single Man's Paradise, but also fun for familys

by gronay

The warmth of the people is what makes the Philippines so alluring. Since the last World War, Filipinos have revered Americans as "larger than life" heroes, so even an older, overweight, and not-so-attractive American man like me can feel like a prince in this hospitable land. Therefore, a single American can enjoy mingling with some of the earth's most beautiful and seductive women, and a family can enjoy the warmth and hospitality of its people and many sites. If you are a first-time traveler to foreign lands, I recommend the Philippines, as it is not as poor and ravaged as many 3rd-world countries, so the poverty in many areas won't scar you, just give you an appreciable education. The last tip is to remember that the larger cities are like any other, so escaping to the provincial, less populated spots will show you wonderous things that cannot be found in any textbook. My most...

Oct-Nov weather in PI

by bulldogtwo

The weather should be just fine. You may experience some rain for maybe 15-30 minutes but it usualy lets up and the sun comes out or you may have some clouds. But for the most part the weather will be fine. You are long past the real rainy season by that time.have fun

Palawan weather

by bulldogtwo

During this time frame you should not have any problems. I am not sure what roads you are talking about, but you are either going to fly to Palawan or take a boat. If and when you do travel by road they shouldn't be bad considering where you are going. You are not going into mountainous areas of Banaue. The roads should not be an issue.I would strongly suggest flying to and from Palawan, if for nothing else to save time, lots of time! The weather, you could get some rain but I doubt that you'll get very much, 20-30 minutes at a time at most and you could get some cloudy skies but for the most part the weather should be pretty good. Overall the weather should be just fine, maybe even great considering it'll be a little cooler just coming off the rainy season, which will be good.Have fun and enjoy.Sorry, time to see the other places?, I don't know what you itinerary looks like but it looks...

Travel Guide books

by bulldogtwo

Hey Shoman,Probably the best travel book that I have used while traveling in the Philippines is the Lonely Planets guide on the Philippines. When I go I take it with me, as well as other countries such as Thailand and others. The reason I like it is because I can get on a bus and follow along in the book as we go. It gives a pretty comprehensive list of places to stay, top end to group hostels in each town and city, along with average price you'd expect to pay. Restuarants as well, how to get there guide, postal info, sights to see, landmarks, etc... I lived in Thailand for almost two years, Bangkok and once I bought the book I started to explore places that I didn't know were there. I've used other guide books but this one is just so much more user friendly. Just my opinion on what's the best book to use.You can get at any Barne's and Noble or Borders book store.Good Luck!David

by A_leen

sounds funny or corny to some but it really gives me a different joy when Iam in Manila particularly in Intramuros... Roxas BLvd... doing some stuff which the place may offer or simply just walking by!=) 'twas only this new year when the whole family changed bonding route for every holidays... going to malls, visits relatives, or out of town are the ussual things. But last January 1, 2008 when we choosed to go around manila! 'twas our first time together there! some have been to Intramuros and Rizal Shrine because of school activity, others can't recall when was there last time to be there!=) It has been a memorable one for me because Iam with my whole family, i do really want them to experience the beauty of Manila...the caleza, the brick walls and road, the scene,.....the history.=)

legal age

by ilonahjean

Thank you guys!Actually the legal age to get married in Britain is 16 as long as the parents approve. Regarding about my friend, the 17 year old is the male not the female and she is a filipina who is working here in the UK (sorry I mistakenly typed filipina instead of filipino). As for the what's the rush? well, maybe she is just lonely here in the UK. Happy to say that they are now postponing the wedding til he is 18.

Philippines is a waste of time to visit

by Mulder_001

Hey man I sympathise with you. The philippines was the worst of the 35 countries I have ever been to. Every one tries to rip you off and you get hassled day after day. Also Filipinos are mostly liars about everything. Just being a white guy implies that you are rich and a target for every vendor to sell you crappy sunglasses crappy watches crappy beads and generally just never leave you alone. you cant walk down the beach without getting hassled every 10 meters so there is no way to relax there at all. Its not a cheap place since everywhere you go you get screwed. I have had a good laugh at the forums - so many people describing the crap. I figure if you get drunk enough you can block out most of the peoople there that harrass you but its a pointless holiday - there are so many better beaches and nicer coutries to go. I have a PH friend who got charged to pick up a letter from the post...

preventive medicine; shots

by bulldogtwo

When traveling through asia, I think that it's always a safe thing to do. Today when you get a hepatitis shot you'll get a series of three over, I think 6 months. You can catch hepatitis anywhere, even in the states eating from dirty utensils. Same is true throughout asia. Typhoid can be a problem as well but not as prevelant, but again safe is better. Should you decide to get the shots, remember to allow for enough time for the hepatitis shots.Good luck!
