Monuments and other Historical Site

by A_leen

sounds funny or corny to some but it really gives me a different joy when Iam in Manila particularly in Intramuros... Roxas BLvd... doing some stuff which the place may offer or simply just walking by!=) 'twas only this new year when the whole family changed bonding route for every holidays... going to malls, visits relatives, or out of town are the ussual things. But last January 1, 2008 when we choosed to go around manila! 'twas our first time together there! some have been to Intramuros and Rizal Shrine because of school activity, others can't recall when was there last time to be there!=) It has been a memorable one for me because Iam with my whole family, i do really want them to experience the beauty of Manila...the caleza, the brick walls and road, the scene,.....the history.=)

legal age

by ilonahjean

Thank you guys!Actually the legal age to get married in Britain is 16 as long as the parents approve. Regarding about my friend, the 17 year old is the male not the female and she is a filipina who is working here in the UK (sorry I mistakenly typed filipina instead of filipino). As for the what's the rush? well, maybe she is just lonely here in the UK. Happy to say that they are now postponing the wedding til he is 18.

Philippines is a waste of time to visit

by Mulder_001

Hey man I sympathise with you. The philippines was the worst of the 35 countries I have ever been to. Every one tries to rip you off and you get hassled day after day. Also Filipinos are mostly liars about everything. Just being a white guy implies that you are rich and a target for every vendor to sell you crappy sunglasses crappy watches crappy beads and generally just never leave you alone. you cant walk down the beach without getting hassled every 10 meters so there is no way to relax there at all. Its not a cheap place since everywhere you go you get screwed. I have had a good laugh at the forums - so many people describing the crap. I figure if you get drunk enough you can block out most of the peoople there that harrass you but its a pointless holiday - there are so many better beaches and nicer coutries to go. I have a PH friend who got charged to pick up a letter from the post...

preventive medicine; shots

by bulldogtwo

When traveling through asia, I think that it's always a safe thing to do. Today when you get a hepatitis shot you'll get a series of three over, I think 6 months. You can catch hepatitis anywhere, even in the states eating from dirty utensils. Same is true throughout asia. Typhoid can be a problem as well but not as prevelant, but again safe is better. Should you decide to get the shots, remember to allow for enough time for the hepatitis shots.Good luck!

dont go here !!!

by cornishboy

I took a look at the new Mt Se hotel in Capipisa Tanza, Cavite and the hotel was ok but the Barangay Capipisa was not! That place was so dirty, dead dry fish along the roads, local people smoking marijuana along the roads drunks throwing bottles on the roads and the garbage ...PHEW !!! all the trees and flowers destroyed by the locals. What a mess.It is obvious that the Local Officials have no interest in their locale to allow it to be reduced to this state of ...well almost like a garbage dump...oh yes their employment is Dynamite fishing. more destruction of the Philippines by this BarangayMy advice....Do Not go there....it stinks.sorry to be so abrupt but thats what i fel.

Dumaguete- The most charming city in the Visayas!

by matt10gonzalez

Dumaguete has charm! No doubt about it! What's the only city in the Visayas that's quiant, walkable, has some pre-Spanish colonial archtecture (The Siliman university) and to top it off, has a clean, pretty boulevard that overlooks a reddish and romantic sunset everyday? Dumaguete! That's what! And to make things much better- it's not only rather charming, but also makes a good transport hub to beauties like Siquijor, Bohol, Cebu and even Northern Mindanao! To make things more a bargain, it's also cheaper than Manila! Wow! A jackpot! There's not much reason why you shouldn't visit one of the most charming cities in the Visayas, the only reason would probably be: That is either hate cities or you can't stand a day without a mall! (Because Dumaguete has less big malls than Bacolod and Iloilo in the Western Visayas region) COMMENTS:ME: Dumaguete is a great town if you want to get married!...

Off-Beaten Towns (Part 1) Negros Occ.and West Cebu

by matt10gonzalez

If you're going to take the bus and ferry trip from Bacolod to Cebu, be prepared to see the following towns in route! a.) San CarlosAh...San Carlos! A city that hugs the beautiful Tanon strait overlooking simple Toledo and Cebu! If you've been to Bacolod, well then this small town feels like 20 years back into the past when Bacolod was just a growing teenager with malls and fast-food chains still in construction! With still little hotels (as of 2005), only one (and very useful!) Lopue's mall that at least has a nice supermarket and with motor tricycles dominating the city streets and virtually hardly any tourists around, it's an interesting place- but not to linger for too long; Just good enough for transit. San Carlos is the port that connects to Cebu (adventurous row ferry!) and it's also a land hub for buses all over Negros! b.) ToledoWow...Toledo! If you thought San Carlos was...

Silay - Vigan without the tourists

by matt10gonzalez

Ah..Silay! Vigan part 2? Not quite! But it sure does have some similarities compared to Vigan!Just like Vigan, Silay has its own share and collection of ancestral houses some dating centuries old! However, unlike Vigan, Silay's collection is pretty small to Vigan and don't expect the streets to be pebbled and cobbled stoned and calesas (horse carriages) to be running around okay? Yet, despite that- Silay is still beautiful and very peaceful: If you want to walk back history to the sugar boom and Spanish influence in Negros, come to Silay! Let the beautiful houses of the Balay Negrense, Jalandoni house, the church (It's the most new and modern building here though!) and all the houses beside the plaza be your photogenic history guide! And guess what? There's very few tourists here! (Yup! Hardly any tour buses!) So good or bad, prepare to go off-beaten! If there's just 2 cities in all of...

Siquijor- More adventurous rather than Mystical!

by matt10gonzalez

f you read all the folk tales about Siquijor, research on the infamous, amazing healers of Siquijor and hunt down its eerie history (which has a lot of spirits and exorcisms), you'll think Siquijor is one creepy and cool place! But in reality, sadly, just like how all fantasies come to an end, Siquijor is nothing but a virgin island that's SO peaceful (There's hardly even a jeepney here! Rare for the Philippine standards!) and beautiful. Adventure lovers will love Siquijor! With waterfalls, caves, forests and beaches, and to make things much better: All are off-beaten which means there's 80% only you will have it all for yourself! Wow! But for mall lovers beware! Because the biggest supermarket here (as of 2005) was only just a mini sari-sari store! (A tiny store) And don't you dare ditch the mystical fantasies of Siquijor! It's what makes the place 5x more interesting! With its eerie...
