Insect Repellent
Although there are preventatives for Malaria, there is as of this time no preventative for Dengue Fever which has shown an increase in many parts of The Philippines this year. I always bring several Pump Spray bottles of " Off " brand " Deep Woods " insect repellent. This product contains 25% DEET which is the most recommended active ingredient. I pack this item in my hold luggage ( containers having more than 3 ounces of liquid no longer permitted as carry on with most airlines ) . and I pack each bottle in a doubled Zip Lock type plastic bag in case of leakage which has not happened to me yet. With any insect repellent, once applied according to directions it does have a time limit for its effectiveness so re-application may be required for full protection in the same 24 hour period. Malaria carrying mosquitoes are more prevalent in some parts of The Philippines than others....
