Busay Abaga is the only waterfall (among 7 in the area) in which swimming is allowed. It has a shallow swimming hole (1-6 ft deep) that drops 300 ft below (the Twin Falls).Hiking to the falls from the jeepney stop takes only 15 min but could take more than hour if you take advantage of the photo ops.Taking a guide is mandatory and the going rate is Php 100.00/pax of ten people.First stop is at a viewing deck showcasing the magnificence of the twin falls. However, if hiking does not appeal, just a few steps from the jeepney stop is a free flowing swimming hole that is fed by the natural cold springs

The first waterfall is Busay Oro, the second one is one of two that are called the twin falls, and the third one is Busay Gamay (small waterfall)From the viewdeck, we made our way up to the falls that feed the twin falls but you cannot see in the pic.If you take the trail going down, you'll end up in Busay Gamay.

250-ft. drop

This looks like nothing but a bunch of rocks and some green down below but if the guide wasn't too worried I'd fall off the boulder if I tried to take a pic, I could have shown you from a better vantage point that this is a 250-ft. drop from the pool where we were to the waterfall below us.

Abaga Falls - A natural waterslide

Abaga means shoulder in ilonggo. I don't know why it was called that...I should have asked our guides.The deepest part is only about 8 feet and that's just a small part of the big pool. The falls below this one is one of the twin falls and the one directly above this is Kawa Falls (meaning wok) The small pool above the big pool is only about knee deep.The best part was the fun we had sliding down from the upper pool to the one below.

That shirtless guy in the pic was one of our guides. He must have been about 5'4, 120lbs. but he was really strong. I mentioned we were supposed to pay him P100 to take us to the falls. I paid him P200 because he piggy backed one of the kids halfway to the falls when his little feet got tired. Amazing locals!The road goes down to the falls...

The little girl in front had a plastic bag in her hand with leaves in it. She was happy. I knew why. I called her so I can see what she had. I have a story...it's a bit cruel to some but...well...listen...When I was little, it was safe to play outside just like these kids. We'd find beetles...and shake them off the trees, tie a piece of thread around their necks and blow them to sleep or tap them lightly to fly. It was fun and it made us happy...kinda like having your own living kite. This was what the girl was going to do with her beetle.No need for hundred dollar toys like remote control airplanes. Beetles don't need batteries...just leaves.The woman in the back is tending to her flowers. People from the city come to buy plants here. Then they take home the plants and the plants die...not enough nurturing and too much heat in the lowlands.

Where do you want to go?

This is where you choose whether you're going to the falls or to Mt. Kanlaon's crater.You can hire a guide to take you right after you register the members of your group at the Dept. of Natural Resources' office.If you choose to go to the crater, it's a 6-hr trek. To the twin falls, around 15 mins.There's a viewdeck halfway along the way to three of the MANY falls and from there you can decide which way you want to go.They asked for P100 (less than $2) per guide for the trek to the falls...maybe they charge more to take you to the crater.

We grow durian?

One of the country's most influential businessmen, Danding Cojuanco, has farms that stretch for thousands of hectares in the south of Negros. Hybrid fruit trees and beautiful flowers are grown in these farms. Durian is usually grown in Davao but not in my island so to see these at the edge of their farm was a pleasant surprise. I don't eat durian not just because of its smell. I've tried it but just couldn't take a liking to it.

Flower balls?

They had a lot of these plants with flowers they call flower balls. They grew by the paths going up. I wonder if this can only be found here or if anyone knows what these are really called?Those green balls are prickly, btw.

A: it actually depends.... usually its P1500. im not sure if kasama na ang extra beddings don... but if ul ask me if wer to sleep if pupunta kayo ron, rent a ten or brng a...
