Mayon Rest House
If you have the time, hire a car and a driver to take you to this place. It is about an hour from Legaspi City. Mayon Rest House is a few hundred meters above the foot of the Mayon. From here, you will see the entire city of Legaspi, Sto. Domingo and parts of bacacay. A worthy visit. I have been there a years ago, we went in the afternoon, only allowing us an hour before it gets dark. It is best to go there in the morning so you can get good photos. also if you go in the afternoon and decides to head back late, be sure to have a sweater with you. it gets cold in this place.
Cagsawa Church Ruins
In 1814, Mt. Mayon, in the province of Albay, the Philippines, erupted and devastated the surrounding communities. This is what remained of the Cagsawa church, whose bellfry has remained standing as a mute testimony of the enormous disaster caused by flowing lava. Some 1,200 people sought sanctuary in the church, thinking that they would be saved from the fury of Mayon volcano. All of them died. One could imagine that, in their last moment, they struggled to climb to this bellfry as others below tried to pull them down. It must be a tragic, horrifying experience.Related to:

Do not miss the Cagsawa Ruins and its famous bell tower. There was a big eruption couple of centuries ago, leaving only the bell tower of the church. The rest of the church was buried under the lava along with its priests and nuns. Also, it gives one of the most stunning views of Mt. Mayon.
