I was surprised to find a Shamrock in Sagada (I had always associated Shamrock with Cebu City). It is a local restaurant cum general merchandise store. The owner/cook is an old, English speaking local. The food choices further surprised me, because of the variety. Some need to be ordered in advance (at least a day) to enable the cook to market for fresh ingredients.
I tried their Spaghetti in meat sauce. The sauce may have come fresh from the can, but the tomatoes? fresh from the farm. The pasta was firm and just like any Italian-style spaghetti, the less sauce, the better. by 1sa Hefty servings, wild rice, and delicious fresh vegetables! An entire kettle of freshly-brewed mountain coffee for Php55 (US $1)!!! About Php 125 will get you a meal that will last you the whole day. On weekends, they have local bands that perform. However, Sagada having a curfew, they switch to an acoustic set at 9 pm. The second floor has an open area that allows you to see a view of Sagada. Cafe St. Joe is right beside St. Joseph's Inn, convenient for those staying there. They also have a little souvenir shop near the entrance. There's an outdoor dining area as well, if you feel like dining al fresco. Smoking is allowed everywhere.
Lechon kawali (deep fried pork), wild rice and vegetables -- absolutely heavenly after a long day of trekking!

Chef Aklay (as he's locally known -- his real name is Philippe), a French chef who decided to live in Sagada, whips up a mean buffet every Saturday night! Reservations are required, and should be made at least 2 days before. Saturday is market day is Sagada, and that's when he goes to buy ingredients for the meal. This ensures that all that everything is absolutely fresh. Incredibly still, he charges only Php 250 -- that's less than US $5!!!
Call me unimaginative, but Log Cabin's Potato Gratin is incredible. The mere thought makes me hungry. It's tasty and rich, yet still light and full of little nuances.

The interior is country-style with pictures and artifacts hanging on the side wall. Just like other restaurants in Sagada, they serve dishes made from fresh ingredients. The problem was, the supplier did not deliver meat and fish that morning. Hence, the only available viand was pork adobo out of the various dishes listed on their menu. Maybe, just bad timing, hmmm.
Hot, brewed coffee served in a LARGE mug. The coffee beans came from Kalinga, another province in the Cordillera Region. The Log Cabin is a more upscale restaurant in Sagada. You need to make advance booking if you are planning to have dinner there. They serve big helpings enough for 2 persons. They serve delicious fare which is a mixture of continental and oriental cuisine. They also have a collection of wine you can have with your dinner.

The restaurant is a small establishment that has found its niche in the tourism map of Sagada. it serves freshly made yoghurt mixed with different fruits cereals as per request of the costumer. They also serve regular breakfast items and good brewed coffee and mountain tea. The price is not bad either. :D
My favorite is yoghurt with banana and cereal and the brewed coffee Theme: LocalPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensiveAddress: Yoghurt House, SagadaDirections: If you are facing the Municipio, just turn right and walk down till you see the restaurant which is about 5 minutes walk from the town hall.

The Masferre Inn & Restaurant by nimato This place is special because it showcases the world renowned photograhps of Sagada's most popular son, Eduardo Masferre. The black-and-white photos were all framed and hanged on the far end wall of the spacious restaurant. The ambiance is cozy and rustic. The restaurant's menu is mostly Filipino. Their pork sinigang is good and their lechon kawali was my favorite. Price per meal: P120pp.

Hadji at the Masferre by herzog63 After my son and I got dried up and changed our clothes we struck out for something to eat! The Masferre Country Inn looked pretty cool! The dining area was beautifully decorated with old photos by Sagada born Eduardo Masferre. They depict early life in Sagada. My son had some chicken and I had some Pancit Canton. Both dishes were pretty good!! We were both so hungry that we could've eaten boiled cockroaches!! Well I could've but my son would probably starve before he tried cockroaches!! So when we were finished with our meal we looked at a photos that were on the walls. Then by the time we were ready to leave it was Very dark out!!! We didn't realize that Sagada doesn't have street lights! And we didn't even pack a flashlight! So we were trying to figure out how to get back to the Guesthouse without breaking a leg! It was as Black as Black can be!! We couldn't see anything except stars. The moon was not visible!! After a few minutes we could see a Jeepney driving down the road so we waited and luckily it was coming down our road! So as it got close (it was driving slow) I told my son to start jogging in front of it so we could use it's headlights for our safe passage home! It worked!! Leave a Comment

During my last visit (July 2006), the restaurant looked different inside and out. It underwent renovation. Still cozy though but more modern ambiance was emphasized this time. I liked the previous rustic ambiance better. Yoghurt House serves tasteful international dishes and servings are hearty enough to satisfy the appetite. A typical meal costs around P140pp, including the yoghurt as dessert. For that, I give my TWO THUMBS UP for the Yoghurt House! (Clap! Clap! Clap!)
Tuna Vegetable Fried Rice, Carbonarra, Fried Chicken (I hate chicken but this one tastes really good!) and the yoghurt with banana/strawberry/granola toppings!
