Sinigang na Bangus (PhP130.00)

For our first day dinner in Sagada, we went to Alfredo's. It's a cabin-styled restaurant with wooden table and chairs. There are also some native statues on the corners and indigenous materials on the walls. We occupied a corner table. We decided to order 3 viands and one cup of rice each.

The buttered vegetables was a colorful mix of carrots, potatoes, cauliflowers, etc. The veggies were not that crunchy anymore ut you can really taste the butter on the dish. I really didn't enjoy the pork curry that much. It lacked curry! The pork was a little bit hard ttoo. Hehe. The sinigang na bangus was a delight. It's hot and sour. Perfect as a soup.

It was my first time to taste Sagada's red rice and it was good. It's weird coz there were so many strange tiny objects on the cup of rice. Hehe. Nevertheless, it was softer than the usual.

Favorite Dish: I love the sinigang na bangus! Yum!

Yoghurt with Strawberries, Bananas, Granola & Oats

It's a small restaurant. It's ceiling is bedecked with Igorot cloths and lamps. The chairs and table are made of wood. The place is nearly full when we entered but we managed to grab a table for five near the door. The menu was simple and short. We picked different meals to sample each category.

I ordered fried rice with vegetables and meat. It's a lightly-seasoned complete meal on a plate. The vegetables are fresh and crunchy and the meat is tender. It's simply delicious, not to mention, filling. I couldn't finish the whole plate! Ivee decided to order the pork stir fry with vegetables and plain rice. The meat strips are covered with a sweet sauce. The veggies are also crunchy and the rice is soft and sticky. Ramil and Candice ordered the java chicken with vegetables and plain rice. The big chicken leg is swimming in a tangy, sweet sauce. Anj stayed away from the rice meals and ordered the mushroom and cheese pasta instead. The aldente pasta and the rich tomato sauce blended perfectly. Plus it has lots of mushroom slices and garnished with strings of cheese. It's creamy and simply delicious.

We were so hungry that we digged in as soon as the food were served. We forgot each other for a moment. Haha! After our delicious late lunch, we ordered dessert.

Anj and Ramil opted for the yoghurt cake. The yoghurt was creamy and sour and sweet. Just by looking at its consistency, it's a far cry from the commercial yoghurts found in grocery stores. Much better than those. The slice of cake, however, was a little bit of a disappointment. It's dry and it crumbled easily on the plate. The cake was also bland and lacked the buttery flavor we were expecting.

Ivee, Candice, and moi chose the complete yoghurt since we can't choose what our toppings will be. Its two scoops of yoghurt with banana slices on the bottom and strawberry preserve, oatmeal, and granola bits on top. The sour yoghurt tickled our taste buds but the added toppings provided the sweetness. It's an enjoyable dessert. Yum!

Favorite Dish: Everything! Haha! And I'm sure the other items on the menu are good as well. Try their yoghurt. I think that's the whole point of eating in Yoghurt House. Although I don't recommend it for those who don't like sour desserts. But then again, it's a whole new experience so might as well try it.

Breakfast of toast, ham & egg. eh! where's the egg?

If you start your breakfast early, you will get to enjoy the quietness of the cafe. We had a simple breakfast of toast, ham and egg with coffee. You can either have it on the ground floor or upstairs..

Favorite Dish: Simple and nutritious.

a good meal ..

Masferre Country Inn & Restaurant is at a good location, near to Information centre. Sit by the window with frilly curtains and you will get to see the patches of nice green outside. Waitresses are friendly and love to have a chat if you are willing..... Lots of lovely black and white photograhs of ethnics are displayed at the back of the wood-panelled wall.

The ambience was good (place is almost spotless clean) and food is not too bad, that was why we had our lunch and dinner here.

Look at more pictures attached on Masferre Country Inn & Restaurant.

Favorite Dish: A scrumptious meal for 3 pax. Clockwise from bottom : Chopsuey, curry chicken and sauce chicken. Comes with a serving of piping hot rice. Delicious and a balanced meal.

Price : 390 pesos

Yoghurt House (formerly Shamrock II): Thick milky Yoghurt

Banana yoghurt sprinkled with muesli
1 more image

Cosy little outlet that serves full meals for breakfast and dinners. The signboard at the entrance is in cheerful yellow and with little fun designs of the sun, moon, stars, guitar ...
The interior is dimly lit by various lamp shades for that romantic feel and a little fireplace at the corner.

Good place to relax to have a cuppa especially after your long hike/walk. Service is fast and people there are courteous.

Favorite Dish: Yoghurt is their specialty. Order the banana one. It comes in a dish - that yummy, richly flavoured yoghurt - thick! Topped with muesli. Dig into the load of bananas buried by the scoop of yoghurt - slid that spoonful into your mouth...hmmmmm.. yoghurt lovers, this is a must do in Sagada..

Per serving of banana yoghurt : 70 pesos

Only two pieces of the delicious fried chicken ??

The cafe is two storey house at St Joseph Resthouse. Good lightings and settings. If you want to feel "more open" and "airy", go upstairs. Serving is done quite fast and waitresses are helpful.

Favorite Dish: A portion of rice with choysuey. The hilight would be the Fried chicken - crunchy and tasty to the last bite. Two pieces is really not enough to calm the hungry stomach .....
