 | Sagada Transportation | Tips 1 - 10 of 64 | | There are 2 ways of going to/from Sagada - via Banaue and via Baguio. I combined both for maximum experience. I took an airconditioned Autobus that leaves Manila at 10pm daily, and with 2-3 brief stopovers along the way, the bus arrived in Banaue at 7am. Then, a short tricycle ride from the terminal to the town proper to transfer to a jeepney going to Bontoc. Two hours after, I arrived in Bontoc and transferred to another jeepney bound for Sagada. After 1 hour, Sagada here I am! Coming back, I left Sagada at 6am for a 6 hour ride to Baguio via a non-airconditioned Lizardo Transit bus. You'll find that the fresh air is very soothing to your weary bones. From Baguio, it was another 7 hour trip in an airconditioned Victory Liner bus to Manila. From Manila, there are two ways to get to Sagada by land, the Manila-Baguio-Sagada and the Manila-Banaue-Bontoc-Sagada routes. Manila-Baguio-Sagada, 11 hours. This route is highly recommended if you don't sleep during long trips and prefer great views along the way. If you do not intend to stay in Baguio, depart from Manila at midnight. Victory Liner (+6327274534, Cubao) buses depart Manila (Pasay & Cubao) by the hour. If you leave Manila at 12 midnight, you'll be in Baguio by 5 or 6am. You should sleep during the Manila-Baguio trip. After arriving at Baguio, immediately proceed to Dangwa Terminal at the back of Plaza Fair and take the Lizardo Bus's first trip to Sagada at around 6:30am. You may sip a hot coffee first before boarding the bus. In case you missed the first trip, worry not because Sagada-bound buses leave Baguio City by the hour as well but only until 11am. If the Lizardo bus leaves Baguio at 6:30am, you'll be in Sagada by 12:30pm, or roughly after 6 hours. You wouldn't want to sleep by now because this trip along the Halsema Highway (the highest highway in the Philippines) offers the best views of the Cordillera mountainside communities. The last two hours of the trip are rough rides (rough roads, of course!). But all the bumps and dusts are all worth it when you begin to smell the mystical air and refreshing aroma of Sagada. Fare: Manila-Baguio (Victory Liner Cubao, aircon) -- P380 Taxi from Victory Liner Baguio to Dangwa Terminal -- P35 Baguio-Sagada (Lizardo Bus, aircon) -- P220 Theme: Bus

The second land route is Manila-Banaue-Bontoc-Sagada.r /> Manila-Banaue-Bontoc-Sagada, 13 hours. Autobus (+6327358096) is the only bus company serving the Manila-Banaue route. Only one trip per day, the bus leaves Manila (Sampaloc) every 10pm. ETA Banaue is 7-8am (9-10 hours). From Banaue, catch another bus or a jeepney going to Bontoc. Banaue to Bontoc is roughly 2 hours. From Bontoc catch a jeepney that will bring you to Sagada (1-1.5 hours). Note that when you select this route, it is advisable to stay a night or two at Banaue and explore some interesting spots there. When you do, don't miss the ultra-awesome Battad Rice Terraces. Please refer to my Banaue Things-To-Do tips for the details of the Battad trek. Fare: Manila-Banaue (Autobus) -- P440 Banaue-Bontoc (Jeep) -- P Bontoc-Sagada (Jeep) -- P Theme: Bus

We took the Manila-Baguio-Sagada route (though most people say the manila-banaue-bontoc-sagada route is much better because of the view) primarily because it was more convenient for us. we just had to change buses twice. from Manila we took the 12am Victory Liner airconditioned bus going to Baguio at the cubao station (fare is Php385 one way). there's a bus leaving every hour (travel time is usually 6 hours, but if you take the deluxe bus [fare is Php550], it will only take 4.5 hours). we got to Baguio at around 5:15am. from the Victory Liner bus station we took a cab going to the Dangwa station and then took the 6am Lizardo bus going to Sagada (fare is Php220 one way). during peak season, there's a bus leaving for Sagada every hour from 6am to 1pm (travel time is 6 hours). we got to Sagada around 12 noon. we got off near the municipal hall because all tourists are required to register there first. going back to Manila, we took the 6am Lizardo bus to Baguio (again, during peak season, there's a bus leaving for baguio every hour from 6am until 1pm), got there at 12 noon, did a little shopping, then took the 2pm Victory Liner bus going back to Manila. we got home around 8pm. There are two ways in getting to Sagada. Either you go there via Baguio or via Banaue. Joal and I took the Manila-Banaue-Bontoc route. We suggest that on your way to Sagada, take the Baguio-Banaue-Bontoc-Sagada route to see the rices terraces, and on your way back take the Sagada-Baguio-Manila route, which we think is a little easier route. Via Banaue: Take an airconditioned Autobus (one way - P462/head) located in Manila. The bus leaves at 10pm everyday. We suggest that you get your tickets early, like 1 wk before your departure. Try to call this number 735-8096. I think we only had 2-3 stopovers along the way. We arrived in Banaue at 7am. Take a tricycle or jeepney from the bus terminal to the town proper to get a jeepney to Bontoc, a two-hour ride. There'll be some 2-3 stopovers to Sagada, mostly have great views to take pictures on. When you go back via Banaue: You may purchase your tickets at the bus terminal in Banaue when you arrived. The tour is the same, take a jeepney from Sagada to Bontoc then another jeepney to Banaue. The bus leaves at 530pm and you'll arrive in Manila 3-4am. We forgot how much were the jeepney fares, but we're sure the fares would not exceed P500 (bus to banaue not included) for the two of you, one way only. Via Baguio: We think this route is a little easier coz you're gonna change buses only twice. Take a Victory Liner bus either from Cubao or Pasay, fare is P385 one way. From Baguio terminal, take a cab to Dangwa Station and take the Lizardo bus to Sagada (fare is P220, one-way). You'll get to Sagada at around 12noon. When you go back via Baguio: From Sagada, take a bus to Baguio and from Baguio, take a bus to Manila. Theme: Bus

Manila-Banaue-Bontoc-Sagada Circa: Sep 2003 – Jan 2004 Autobus Terminal at España, Manila To Banaue Fee: 257 Php Duration of trip: 9-10 hrs (Depends on how fast the driver drives and/or road conditions) At the Autobus terminal Banaue, a fiera-type jeep bound for Bontoc awaits. Make sure you leave Manila at night so you'd get there early, as these jeeps are only available at specific times. If you don’t snag the first trip in the morning, you might wait for a few hrs until another one comes along (if there will be one). 1st trip would be around 8 am, or whatever time your bus arrives (usually the jeep waits for the arrival of the bus). I’d suggest you take the night trip (10:30 pm – or better call the bus company for the sched) so you’d arrive in Banaue around 8:30-9:00 am plus it’s faster since you’ll probably be asleep most of the time. To Bontoc Fee: 80 Php Duration of trip: 2 hrs The jeep will pass by the legendary rice terraces. It’s really spectacular! I can’t believe our ancestors built that! Moreover, the air is very fresh, there are no signs of smog nor smell of garbage or burning fuel. Just simply clean, fresh air. *sigh* The jeep will drop you off at the Bontoc Terminal (beside a restaurant). You can eat there if you like because the jeep going to Sagada won’t leave unless everyone’s already on board (or until it’s full). Also, the Sagada terminal is beside the restaurant so you don’t have to worry about being left behind. =) To Sagada (at long last!) Fee: 25 Php Duration of trip: 2 hrs We left Bontoc at 12 nn. It was still a bumpy and dusty ride. We passed through the mountains and atop one was so damn cold! I think it was the highest peak amongst the mountains there. Anyway, we arrived at Sagada at 2 pm. When you reach Sagada, a line of vendors that sell fruits, vegetables, weave crafts, etc. will welcome you. You have to go to the municipal hall and pay a registration fee of 10 Php and they will give you a registration card. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

It is more convinient for me and my friends to go to Sagada via Baguio taking one of the early departures of Lizardo Bus (6a.m., P220/way). Lizardo shares a station (located near the public market) with local buses that serves the surrounding areas. There is no seat reservations so be there early enough to have a chance to get good seats. The return trip (Sagada-Baguio) is much the same, no reservations! You have to be at the Sagada square early enough to have a chance to get good seats, it's every man for himself. The one who moves quickest gets the best seat! It takes 6-7 hrs. from Baguio to Sagada so be sure to bring some crackers and water with you. Theme: Bus

i guess this is a better way of going to sagada, you may contact Mang Bert at 09193862159, he owns this bus named CABLE TOURS, it goes directly to BONTOC from quezon ave (near St. Lukes), from bontoc you just need to ride a jeepney to sagada. Manila to Bontoc is a 12-13 hours ride then from bontoc to sagada is just a 30-45min ride, i guess this is faster than using the baguio or banaue route.... From Metro Manila, catch the Victory Liner aircon bus. The Victory Liner (other buses are mostly located in EDSA) leaves every 30 minutes. The one-way fare is P380.00. From Baguio City, catch a bus going to Sagada at the old Dangwa Tranco compound in Magsaysay Avenue. Just look fro Lizardo Lines. This bus travels directly to Sagada. The fare is P220.00. When I travelled to Sagada 11 years ago, I was told to catch the bus early, so I was up there before 4 a.m.! Up to this day, this is still true because the road to Sagada is kind of treacherous! It is actually safer to travel in the morning when there is good visibility! Be sure to get to the Dangwa terminal early morning. The regular last trip to Sagada by Lizardo Lines leaves before lunch so they can get to Sagada before nightfall. It is about a six-hour trip from Baguio. It is about 104 kilomoters away via the Baguio-Bontoc Highway or Halsema Highway. The long and winding roads are tricky and it is advisable to travel during daytime! Theme: Bus
