Tagaytay, A Cool Escape

by kidfree

Not so much as off the beaten path but more just on the edge of it is Tagaytay. An hour or so drive south of Manila in Cavite province Tagaytay has long been a summer retreat to escape the heat of Manila.Standing 600 metres above sea level the climate is certainly agreeable. There are great views, particularly on a clear day of Taal Lake and volcano. There are a number of treks you can join and those wishing to make more than a day trip have a choice of acommodations

Romblon - takes 2 days to get there but worth it!

by kotitihaere

We visited Romblon Island and it takes 2 dayt to get there going by boat. we had to catch one boat to Tablas island then go to San Augustine to catch the boat to Romblon the next day.It is worth the effort going there. Marble is in vast supply there so the street lamps are all made of marble and people have marble chips in front of their houses and in their houses.Peaceful and not many touts with a great expat community. The Romblon Deli is the place to meet the expats and find out what is happening on the island.

A Local Delicacy That Will Blow your Heart Away!

by besgeo

if you're ever in any of the various malls in the philippines, head straight for the food court and look for sisig! its basically the face of a pig chopped up with onions and sili topped with fresh egg, and served usually on a sizzling plate. its a must try for every tourist as this was once a staple of the Filipino drinkers, now enjoyed by all. Rice is optional, but highly recommended. There are only a few places whose sisig has "passed" my taste test: Padi's Point (a local bar wide many branches), Wok this Way (located along Katipunan in QC and in front of Ateneo De Manila University, you'll probably see me there on Thursdays with my friends...hahaha) and Sweet Temptations (located at Davao). My favorite food court sisig can be found at Sta Lucia Grand Mall, near the corner of the food court. unfortunately, i forgot the name of the stall, but they have a gay waiter who advertises their...

Found this cute flower in pink and yellow there's a white in there but seems not good already. Maybe will take a picture again there for the white gumamila.

Quezon National Park

by hunwagner

Perhaps the most beautiful, accessible piece of rainforest in the country is to be found in this park on the narrow neck of land connecting Central Luzon to the southern Bicol peninsula. The park has a trail leading to a limestone outcrop from where both coasts of the peninsula can be seen, and you might spot monkeys and rare birds in the forest.

Why didn't I think of that?

by Jorgito_lindo

My friend who is a teacher in Hong Kong decided to donate some books to a poor school in the Philippines. We came with her to say hi to the locals kids who were delighted to see us and be in our pictures. How many times do we stop to think that we should give a country we visit more than the money we spend there on beers? This school we'll now have not only some books to read but probably also a very different image of Westerners.

Get your hair cut!

by Mariekepieke

When i was in Manila, i decided i needed a haircut. As i live in London, i found £5 quite cheao for a style cut! I found the perfect place to do it; David's Salon in Makati! Ask for Edward Bo! And say hi from the blond girl! =)

Babuyan Islands

by hunwagner

These beautiful islands off the north coast of Luzon remain completely unspoilt by tourism. That is unlikely to change too, as they are hard to get to - there are no flights and even boat services are scarce and irregular - especially in the typhoon season!
