Rice Terraces

by whvcebu

One of the most beautiful sceneries on the Philippine archipel are the Central Cordilleras in the north of the country (Luzon)Travel through the mountains of Baguio via Sagada and Bontoc to Banaue is very difficult, but worthwhile to see. The impressions remain unforgotten, especially the rice terraces around Banaue

While Near Boracay See Ati-Atihan in January

by BIW

Ati-Atihan is The Philippines' version of Mardi Gras or Carnival. The most famous one (maybe the only one) takes place in early January in the town of Aklan, on the island of Panay, which is right next to Boracay. It's a great opportunity to see some local customs and to have a lot of fun!

We decided to do something off...

by Irenoghege

We decided to do something off the beach for a few days. Climbing a vulcano sounded like a brilliant idea. In Lake Taal there is a vulcano. In the vulcano there is a lake, and in the small lake there is a tiny little vulcano! (Maybe there is a mini-lake in the small vulcano too?)Anyway, getting there wasn't too easy. After travelling for two days, and having to spend the night in a brothel(...)we finally got there. BUT the day was windy, and we did not dare to cross the lake in a small boat. Next time we'll go to Tagaytay; at least you have a view to the vulcano island from there...

Vast Mountains

by yen_2

There are 7,107 islands in my country so, it means there are pretty beahes and pretty vast mountains on the way to your destinations. The photo is taken around the Bukidnon Province as we stop by for awhile..You can see different kinds of pretty flowers. You will get the chance to see the overlooking places on the way..

Ride one of the scariest roller coasters

by D._Pepper

At Enchanted Kingdom, a theme park in Santa Rosa, about 40 kilometers south of Manila. The roller coaster looks tame enough from the ground - a couple of loops, some twists, run of the mill stuff? Not really. The scare comes from the way you start the ride - pulled up almost vertically facing down onto a ten-storey high pylon from which you are dropped to begin the wild ride. This is done in reverse when you get to the end of the first round of the ride. I don't usually scare easily from rides - but this one unnerved me.

Go Bat Watching

by D._Pepper

There's a little known place (to me, at least - I discovered it only this weekend) inside the former US Naval Facility in Subic Bay called Bat Kingdom. Bring a camera with a long lens around 5 pm on any day - and start taking pictures. Of bats roosting on trees - hundreds, maybe thousands of them. And watch them swarm at sunset - turning the skies dark with 3-feet wingspans. Amazing sight!

The Village of Bangaan

by herzog63

There isn't much to see except natural beauty and local folks!! The hills are terraced for pIanting rice and other crops. The trails are very easy to follow and actually if you wanted you could continue on for visiting several other villages further down into the valley. If you look at the center of the picture about 3/4's of the way up the photo you can see a hut. That's the hut that my son and I stayed in for 2 nights! It is a traditional Ifugao hut. Our hut is in another village called Batad. I think that is still his favorite place that we have ever stayed in on our 4 trips to Asia!

Beautiful villages of Benguet Province

by herzog63

The Benguet Province is quite mountainous and it's people are quite strong as many of them carry huge loads over trails without the benifit of powered vehicles. I found the people to be very friendly also.

Benguet Province

by herzog63

The province of Benguet is a very rugged area. There are mountains everywhere. It is a very hard area to grow crops so the locals have terraced the hillsides in order to survive. It is a year round process to maintain the terraces. During the rainy season many of the terraces have collapsed then they have to be totally rebuilt.

Beautiful areas

by herzog63

There are so many different types of landscape to see in the Philippines. I enjoy the mountainous area more than hitting the beaches so if your like me head to North-Central Luzon and you will be in the heart of the mountains. Generally the people are very friendly too as they don't see as many tourists as the beach areas.
