Sibit Sibit

by lakbayPinas

Sibit Sibit is an annual festival that depicts Olongapo’s rich and colorful heritage. Held around the last week of May in Barrio Barreto, ‘sibit sibit’ refers to the small paddle banca (native boat) used in the ancient fishing villages from which Olongapo was ultimately born. During olden fiestas, fishermen held banca races using traditional sibit sibit driven by paddles. Today, the traditional fiesta is transformmed into a colorful and enthralling beach festival bringing together Olongapo’s past, its thriving present, and the promising future.Aside from the boat races, the festival boasts of sun and sand competitions, aqua sports activities, fabulous food showcases, bar and club activities, entertainment sprees and talent showdowns.

Family fun at El Kabayo Equestrian Center

by lakbayPinas

The El Kabayo Equestrian Center and Riding Stables in the Binictican area of Subic Bay Freeport offers a wide range of horse related activities. The center offers recreational as well as competitive riding lessons using standardbreds, saddlebreds, quarter horses, and even a few thoroughbreds from Argentina, Australia and the US. The center also offers traditional trail rides, the most popular being an hour ride into the jungle to Kabayo Falls and back. No experience is required for these rides, as a guide will walk along side for those who may need it. The last time I was there (December 2009), the trail rides cost Php 750 per hour per person.Even if learning the art of riding, pacing, sprinting and trotting is not on your agenda, the place is well worth a visit if only to admire the magnificent horses amidst the lush forest of Binictican.

They made this for the People

Going to the place where the mudslides happen here in Saint Bernard is the thing your heart feels like someone squeezes it. I really cant explain what I felt when I visit this place with my sisters and friends. You’ll see this tall cross beside the river where you will go to across it before walking the huge area of the town that buried the whole place. But before entering the area you need to sign your name first at the Army book for incase. Because of the disaster where the entire place buried this cross represent that many people died in this area. From here you need to walk like 5 minutes to the main area of the place.

stuck in the jungle, and all you have is a big ass knife and some bamboo... check out the Jungle Extreme Survial Training course. the instructor explained how to make a soup bowl and stand, spoon, a rice maker and fire, all out of bamboo. too bad i live in the states where bamboo is kinda slim. but it was a fun place to check out. i think it was 150 pesos to get in. there is also a mini zoo with some animals and a butterfly garden.

Philippines are getting warmer again as summer is imminent. As we filipinos love shakes, cold drinks, etc.. that makes us feel not thirsty from being under the sun and feel warm that makes you thrisy and want to jump over into the cold water. Here in Olongapo we have this sweet fruit shakes that makes you sit in the corner and enjoy drinking. You can choose what kind of fruits you want and mix it whit other fruit. From mango to Avocado etc..

Watch it On Top of the Roof

by namiewa

After watching the parade and uploading my photos in the computer I noticed that the skies show nice color and getting dark. I run to go down stair holding my camera and asked the owner of the apartment if I can climb the roof to take a picture of the sunset. Was in hurry though sooner it will gone. Thanks that I don’t need to look some other way how to click. There’s a strengthen stair up. Its worth climbing in the roof to take pictures though the result is fantastic I might do this every afternoon hahahaha kidding. Well, why not!
