  • STRICT OFFICERS

    by lemon4juice Written Apr 15, 2004

As I keep on mentioning, traffic enforcers are very strict. Comply with their traffic signs. If there's a STOP sign, stop for atleast 5 seconds before proceeding. STOP signs can be seen anywhere, on the passage, highway or maybe drawn on the board. Just be cautious looking up and down STOP sign might be present, specially on intersections.

    money exchange

by faboo Written Mar 25, 2006

i brought american cash over, and my girlfriend brought traveller's cheques. it was easier to convert the american hard currency than the traveller's cheques. i think we even lost some of the exchange rate cuz the extra fees for traveller's cheques. it was also hard to locate a place to even accept the traveller's cheque.

if you do plan on taking traveller's cheques here, there is a small exchange shop beside the market place. we went to 5 established filipino banks, and none accepted them.

    jelly fish

by faboo Written Mar 25, 2006

the beach we went to was great, as it had private showers, clean beach and was away from the subic base port. the only problem was the jelly fish. i guess they only appear in the hot months, cuz my folks were here in december and they swam for hours with out any stinging. these were not life threating, but they were definetly annoying little buggers.

Traffic Rules (in Subic Bay Freeport Zone)

by daisydayag Written Jul 24, 2008

Everyone has to abide to traffic rules in Subic Bay Freeport. SBFZ traffic officers are very keen to those who are lousy in observing in such rules. So, be extra careful when inside the zone. Always remember to: 1) WEAR your seatbelts, 2) FIRST to STOP, FIRST to GO, 3) be mindful of SPEED LIMITS (officers do have this "gun" or a certain gadget when aimed at your car,it can determine the speed you are at), 4) make a FULL STOP when there is a STOP sign (actually, there are STOP signs or traffic lights almost every intersection or turns) etc. Also, unlike in Manila and other cities, there are sensors along the intersections where there are traffic lights. As such, you have to stop on the STOP written on the road or near the STOP line; if not, the RED light will take long enough to turn GREEN,or it won't at all.
