Your best bet is always a sturdy backpack. If you absolutely have to bring luggage, trolleys or wheeled suitcases are convenient. During the summer months, light clothing/shorts and sandals; a windbreaker/rainjacket is always useful especially during the rainy season. If you plan to go up North to the mountains, a sweater/light jacket will keep you warm, especially during the 'Ber months all through February. Also, bring at least one pair of 'decent' clothing and shoes just in case you intend to go to church or to establishments with a dress code. Most toiletries and medical supplies are readily available in Manila department stores or drug stores. Women travelers are advised to stock up on tampons as they are in short supply in the city and impossible to find in the provinces. A sleeping bag and lots of mosquito repellent/calamine lotion are always handy. Travelers from the USA and...

Get some PHP's before arriving. Currency exchange booth at Manila domestic is prominent and a good deal but I didn't see any exchange at Manila's International terminal in the mass confusion of the international arrivals. Many people will gladly accept $'s but at 50 PHP to $ you will overpay.

Loose-fitting natural fiber clothing is best, even if it's going to wrinkle. You don't want to be in that heat in something synthetic that won't wick away perspiration. Most people wear flip-flops, it depends on how much walking and what type of trip you're on. Insect repellent and cortisone cream for sure! Also sunscreen and baby powder because it's very humid. Have relatives? Better bring gifts! Especially stuff they can't get over there.

If you are a very tall or big girl dont expect to find lots of clothes or shoes at your size in the stores! Philippino women are small! I was lucky cause Im small only 1,53m, and Im not the smallest person here, thera are lots of people smaller than me here! here everything fits me! But I have a polish friend thats having some problems trying to find girls clothes that fits her! :)

light secure and lockable baggage. Best to bring as little clothing as poss. Buy as u require ,clothing is cheap in PH. Always carry some tissue in the Ph. as sanitation is a real problem...a small medical kit is essential with antiseptic mozzie deterent. I recomend a wide angle lens in the Ph.Ideal for mountainous scenes and group photo's

A backpack is probably the best way of carrying your gear, but try to thiefproof it as much as possiblle and remember that backpacks are prone to damage, especially in the airlines. Travel packs are a relatively recent innovation that combine the advantages of a backpack and a soft carry bag. The Philippines has enough climatic variations to require a fairly wide variety of clothing. At sea level you'll need lightweight gear, suitable for tropical temperatures. In Mountain Province or when scaling the odd volcano, you'll need warmer clothing-jumpers (sweaters) and a light jacket. Bring thongs (flip-flops) for use in hotel bathrooms and showers. Soap, toothpaste and other general toiletries are readily available, but out in the sticks toilet paper can be difficult to find. First-aid-kit is useful. videocam, cameras and lots of films....... A pocket calculator can come in handy for...

Travel light especially if you are traveling about the many islands. We badly overpacked and regretted it. Filipinos almost never were shorts in the larger cities but that is not a problem for tourists. Weather is warm, humid and often very wet so pack accordingly. Pack some Loperamide Hydrochloride or something similar for diarrhea. If you are there for any length of time, especially in the outer islands the water will get you. You can find most over the counter medicines throughout the islands but interestingly they sell them by the pill rather than by the package or bottle.

Pack to be mobile! Buses are often crowded and obtaining attire there is affordable. PI is a tropical destination. It rains often and in part of the city it floods. Flip flops for rural destinations. Breathable shoes that dry quickly for the city. Also you must bring a umbrella! In parts of the PI they carry umbrellas to block the sun and rain. The great thing about the Philippines is that Pharmacies are abundant! I mean everywhere! So medicine is not a big concern. maybe some bug spray, because misquitoes are even common in the city! Femine hygeiene products for ladies are found, but modern desired products should be brought with you. Bring Batteries for you digital camera if leaving the city, but can be attained in manilla! Also bring adapter for camera becaus ethey don't use same voltage as in the US. Hiking is great but have never been camping here. Pack light! Clothing needs to...

The best way is to travel light. Make sure that your luggages are not oversized and can be practically carried on your body. Limit yourself to 2 luggages so you can keep count on them. Cotton shirts and jeans pants are the best to travel around. Hats are not very common but umbrellas are used to protect yourself from the sun or rain.
