Vikings Buffet: International Buffet in San Miguel By The Bay (2)

by machomikemd Written Mar 24, 2012

Part Two of My Vikings Buffet with more pictures.

Vikings Buffet is creating a storm in the pasay area more so at the San Miguel By the Bay Area of Mall of Asia as this famed International Buffet Station now competes with the Buffets of noted international hotel chains in Manila in terms of th quality of food served, the quantities of food served, the different theme cooking stations for the assorted international cuisines, the five star ambiance of the surroundings and more importantly, with at least 50% less than the average price of a typical buffet in the 5 star hotels. More to boot is that even the drinks are included in the buffet unlike in five star buffets in the philippines. It has become an icon at the far end of the San Miguel by the end and is rivalled by the equally populat 101 Buffet at the other end of the Bay (see my Buffet 101 tips too).

    according to their website:

Vikings luxury-buffet restaurant is stylish, relaxed and fun; it overlooks the majestic Manila Bay through vast conservatory-like windows. The first of its kind in the Philippines, the tasteful 600-seater dining room, possess well appointed details, comfortable dining nooks while incorporating several live-action-cooking stations and a level of food quality beyond buffet expectations; from prime seafood to prime rib, gourmet pizzas to local favorites and freshly made stir-fried options thrown in; truly an epicurean epiphany.

Vikings redefines the whole notion of buffets, with sumptuous feasts of delectable European, American, Japanese, Chinese and Filipino dishes. Vikings focuses on freshness, high-quality ingredients, comforting-unique choices and providing an impeccable dining experience worth coming back for. Vikings is the perfect place for tourists, special occasions, family gatherings and corporate events. Open for breakfast, (Saturdays & Sundays) lunch and dinner 7 days a week.

Kitaro: Yummy & Affordable Japanese Delights

    by nixca316 Updated Oct 9, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Kitaro is a Casual Dining and a bit like a fast-food place. It serves authentic Japanese and fusion meals.

The taste is competitive and the service is good.

My motto is, if they are nice to my autistic brother, they are worth another try.

They have branches all over the metropolis, Baguio, Pampanga, and Bulacan. This particular branch has a warm atmosphere, even when it's full. Well, maybe it's just me, but I felt welcome and I felt the sincerity of their service.

When people are sincere, they deserve a good tip.

the best chinese style fried chicken in my youth has been reincarnated after a hiatus of 15 years and is now owned by two competing brothers and they are the Original Savory and the Classic Savory and on a visit to Manila, I happened to chance around this Joint.

Favorite Dish: why the original Savory Fried Chicken off course and the Nido Birds Nest Soup however the retooled Classic Savory Fried Chicken is better.

    Bangus: Bangus

by joysweet Updated Apr 4, 2011

Celebrated my xx birthday here with my family. We have eaten here several times as my niece Gain and nephew Happy love the food here. They serve Filipino dishes, with specialty Bangus (of course) as their speciality. They have several ways of serving the Bangus (milk fish, the national fish of the PH).

Best to reserve, especially on a Sunday as the restaurant is a bit small and if you are dining with your family you might have a hard time getting a table.

    We ordered:
Sinigan na Hipon (Tamarind Soup with Shrimp). At 180p, there's about 4-5 pcs of medium sized shrimp.
Bangus Sisig - their version of the Filipino specialty, and with the fish - this sisig is healthier - 155p
Crispy Calamares - very disappointed because this isn't the normal calamares we like (squid rings), but they served it as little chopped squid. Not worth the money at 115p
Boneless Crispy Pata - no more comments about this as I love crispy pata everywhere. 420p
Grilled Bangus belly with Sampaloc Candy Sauce and Crispy Kangkong - the sauce is sweet, and is something different. 250p
Lumpiang Capanpangan - Spring rolls with green papaya - didn't taste it actually. 80p

Their plain rice at 40p is about 1.5 cups and they serve it in a big plate for every 3 order (about 5 cups approx)

    They have packages for family:
Kaing Yaman - 950++ - there is a variety served from salad to desert.

With 12% vat and 10% service charge.

  • Dampa, Macapagal Avenue: Seafood Market/ Restaurant Dampa

by thescene Updated Feb 3, 2011

One of the popular types of restaurants is the "paluto" type of restaurants. Here people buy fresh seafood from a wet market and then proceed to a complex of restaurants which are adjacent to the market. Once you get to the restaurant you can instruct the cook to prepare the seafood in any way you want. One of the most popular places to go to is the one along Macapagal Avenue near the Mall Of Asia.

Dad and Mom's Restaurant: Great VT Meeting Place at Mall of Asia by the bay

by jumpingnorman Updated Jul 9, 2010

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

We had an amazing party here last June 2010, and we reserved the whole place during a Saturday evening for my family meeting with friends from VirtualTourist. This is one of those restaurants where you buy the fish, meat and vegetables in the nearby market, and then they cook the food for you per "your instructions".

Since we live in the USA, we pre-organized the party with the manager over the phone - we just had to give a small deposit to reserve the place on the day we wanted.
We had over one hundred guests that night and about 70 stayed inside the airconditioned room while the rest stayed in the outside tables, watching the live band and also seeing the fireworks at 7 PM (Mall of Asia fireworks display on the weekend). The waiters were very attentive to our needs and even "jumped" for us, hahaha - thanks.....
My wife did the marketing of items to be cooked during the morning and they cooked the food as we instructed (fee for cooking affordable), and my guests were all satisfied. Our party started from 530 PM and ended until 1030 PM and the staff was very courteous to us noisy JUMPERS the whole time, hahaha

G Squared: Seafoods Cooked Your Way

by cyndymc Updated Jun 6, 2010

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

G Squared is a restaurant that specializes in "paluto" (they cook whatever seafood you bring to them according to whatever cooking style you prefer). Whenever we feel like eating "kamayan" style (eating with bare hands) our favorite seafoods like crabs, prawns, "alupihang dagat", oysters, etc., we go to G Squared at Dampa at Macapagal Avenue or San Miguel By the Bay at MOA. For only P150 per kg cooking charge, G Squared is able to transform our seafood faves into tempura /buttered & crispy fried/steamed/baked/ gambas, etc.

Favorite Dish: tempura, buttered prawns, baked scallops
