Boating is a must do when you are in Boracay Island. There are so many interesting sites to see and enjoy aside from the ever popular White Beach. Many beautiful unspoiled beaches still can be found in this enchanting island. Personally, I find the White Beach too populous for my taste and prefer the isolation of other less frequented beaches. You can swim and snorkel on these beaches in pure joy and isolation.
Paraw is the native outrigger boat fitted with sails. The open area between the outriggers and the main hull are fitted with net making it as the more comfortable and exciting area to stay while sailing. Much more, this serves as place to put some weight (the passengers) when heeling happens as the wind blows harder - and zooommm you go.
Almost a hundred of paraws (with a crew of 2) are for rent by the White Beach at P500/hour. I consider this activity as generally safe and relaxing. Just be sure to wear the provided lifevest.
Nothing beats the fascination of sailing them into the sunset . The traffic at 5pm onwards is really heavy, I observed, making them very graceful subjects when taking sunset photos.
Hire a sail boat to take you to other snorkeling spots, to other parts of the island or to simply feel the sea breeze. Sail boats usually run faster than motor boats. It is also a lot more fun. You can hire sail boats for half the day or the whole day. It is also usually much cheaper than the motor boats.
There are a lot of agents offering boating trips that include skindiving (with equipment) near Crocodile Island, lunch at a secluded beach and a tour around the island. One thing I don't like about it was that it was too long. What we did was we hired a boat for PHP500.00. It included skindiving (with equipment) near Crocodile Island, a tour around the island, and a swim on a secluded beach. There were six of us so that was a good deal. It only took us about two hours compared to the almost four to six hours it takes the regular package.
Boat Sailing is more fun and more adventure, then just a boat with motor working on it. Sailing is the number 1 fun away and adventure for me to trip the whole island though the ride is smooth and you can talk to your friend or lover with out shouting. So explore the Boracay by boat sailing and tell the man who’s driving to drop by the place you want. With the wind whipping your face and water spraying this one’s a cant miss activity!
You can't come to White Beach and not take a sailing /snorkelling trip. We took our trip around 4pm on Christmas Day and on the way back, we caught the sunset over the water. It was a beautiful xmas...
enjoy the boracay sunset on a paraw (local boat)... some would prefer the sunrise.
you can choose to take a dip in the cool waters of the ocean or just chill out and enjoy the view with a cool bottle of san miguel beer.
"Maam boating kayo?" you will hear this everywhere. Locals trying to sell you out for a day trip of boating all over Boracay Island. As cheap as P500 - P3000 most of them include snorkel gears and lunch. You will be accompanied with the captain and an assistant. We rented a boat that will fit 30 ppl but there were 13 of us - so we had room to move and have a nice lunch on the boat while sight seeing. They took as to a snorkeling place in the middle of the island and of course Puka Island is a must to go.
Paraw ride is available around the island. Some go to sunbathe in the middle of the sea, some to catch the sunset. Best reviewed Paraw Captain is Capt. Joey
Many tourist loves to sail in Boracay.... many local sailboats are available for hire, if you could not sail, watching on it also help spending your time.:-)
