No Price Tags On Abaca Bags & Slippers

by cyndymc Written May 17, 2010

Most stalls/stores don't have price tags on their merchandize. When buying abaca bags and slippers, be sure to canvass the prices of nearby stalls/stores. The first price quoted by the merchant is usually not yet the fixed price. You can still haggle for a lower price, but you can do a good job at haggling only if you know the prevailing cost of the merchandise. For example, at the Tabaco City Trade Fair, I was quoted a high price for a pair of simple (no beads/decor) abaca slippers. I already bought a pair while in Caramoan, and besides, I've already canvassed the cost in some stalls so I already have an idea of the price. Similarly, I already had an idea of the cost of abaca bags when I went to a fund-raising store in Ligao City; yet, I still canvassed the prices of bags in the stalls so I'll know how far down I can haggle for prices.

When you haggle for prices, do it in a nice manner, never in an insulting manner, otherwise, if you offend the merchant, you couldn't get the price or even the merchandise you want.

Get expert advice before hitting the water

by Yla Written Jul 12, 2008

There are several spots in the gulf of Albay which can be good for boating, snorkeling, swimming and maybe diving. But before you do, better to check the season with your hotel management or people who makes their livelihood from the sea. There are times during the year that jellyfish proliferate the gulf and can give a sting that can be fatal. Some thinks it is due to the monsoon and some due to the ecological imbalance, but nonetheless, preparation can make your trip worthwhile.
