Picnic on the beach
Grill your own food near the beach! Not all beach resorts allow this, but there are some who do. Doing so is cheap compared to buying hotel food, plus, it's fun, because it's like having PICNIC ON THE BEACH! Just don't throw food waste on the beach or you'll be apprehended.
Camping at the Coco Grove
The Laiya Coco Grove has 2 places to camp out - the picnic area and the white beach. The picnic area is where we stayed at. The area is by the beach under a tree. It is a secured place with guards roaming the place 24 hours. even vendors are not allowed to enter as they are immediately asked to leave to protect the guests. We got to barbeque and pitch our tent about 5 meters away from the shoreline. It costs 330 per person with an additional 330 to rent a tent. Food can be brought from outside the resort and a small marketplace is just about 3 minutes away. There is no food available in this area but the options are to either cook your own food or order from the main resort or eat at their buffet which costs 300 per person. The shoreline is a little muddy. But there is a sand bar just across the resort and the water there is better. There is a karaoke machine in the resort. It's ok except that they don't have rules that regulate its use so at some point in the night when you're sleeping, you'd hear some music from it. But the staff is really friendly and accomodating. You can ask them to buy food for you to cook and even ask them to cook them for you - for a fee of course.
There's a marine sanctuary a few meters from the La Luz resort beachfront although, there's a SILLY sign saying that the beach is exclusive for La Luz guests only. One solution to this is to TRESPASS and wait if someone notices and shoo you away. hehehe
