I have this wanderlust syndrome most of the time that I crave for even just short getaway from the city life... and Mt. Manabo in Batangas is just that. It is about two hours away from Manila. Taking a bus heading to Batangas Pier, we dropped at Lipa City. One is supposed to take a trike going to the jump-off point. The trike terminal is near the Fiesta World Mall in Lipa, which is not really along the highway. A cemetery or memorial park precedes the mall so do look out for that. It is a two-hour climb, which is worth it. Mt. Manabo offers a view of neighboring mountains, such as Mt. Makiling. This destination is possible for a day trip, like leave city at 7am, arrive on the camping site at noon, descend at about 2pm, and head home at 4pm. One only needs a budget of PHP 500 for this trip.

Aero Club Manila
by whvcebu
In case you want to go to some small island somewhere in the Philippines, or to Catalagan for example, inquire with Manila Aero Club.Often times commercial pilots or private pilots are just chatting in the Clubhouse over some soft drinks or cup of coffee. Topic is usually where to go during next week-end.Sometimes they are looking for passengers to reduce the expenses. This is always a good opportunity to see substantially more of the Philippines than a regular traveller.Just go to Manila Domestic Airport. From EDSA Avenue turn into Airport Rd. and go straight ahead. Just at the next intersection there is the clubhouse.
