THE HOUSE THAT LOOKED LIKE A BOAT…….

by paolodecastro Updated Nov 1, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

When we were on our way to the Chocolate hills…..i saw this unusual house…being an architect by profession I became curious…I don’t know anything about this…this was not included in the activity nor I have seen it in blogs….at least here in the BOHOL forum of VT……….
I just got curious …if it is a house or a station………who on earth would want to build a house like that………..

I just learned that the owner is somewhat a former or still a Captain of a ship……
That’is why I did not let my chance…to not get a picture on this site hahahahahaaha

    Me..in the Shiphaus.....I I captain......;)

    Chocolate or Peppermint Flavor......which one

by paolodecastro Updated Nov 1, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Only now I have determined that there are two flavors of the hill one is the famous CHOCO flavor usually seen in the months of March to April and the other one is the pepper mint flavor…just like what I saw there………..
But I was lucky to see both…there are still some part of the hills which are still in its chocolate flavor……….but majority already in its pepper mint state…..hahahhaahhahahahahaa

When I was there the weather is unpredictable sometimes its raining sometimes its sunny…….all tourist at that time are just lucky that the rain always stopped….so as to give us sometime…experiencing to see the wholeness of the chocolate/peppermint hills and to take the ultimate pictures………….

Well no pain no gain there are 200 plus step one must go thru to be able to get in the view deck…………..Once your on the top of the viewdeck………your hardwork of keeping your stamina……paid off…….the view is magnificent……
But there is one mistake that I did I should have made a video of the whole chocolate hills……and I should have make more time seeing the whole place……..at that time I was so busy taking my pictures…………..;(

I will taste..if choco or pepermint....peppermint. Chocolate hills...cherry on top..:) hi yahhhhhh up up and away.....to another hill I will take it with me........my one choco hill Magnificent Chocolate Hill

    BOHOL ECO-TOURISM ADVENTURE PARK……….

by paolodecastro Updated Nov 1, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If you plan to go here and t is not included in your Countryside tour…already inform your tourguide………because not every hotel/tourguide has the same itenerary………this is on the Countryside tour way and the Clarin Residence……

I already did a zipline in the treetop adventure in Subic……..but this is way higher and and farther than that of the treetop adventure.......

If my memory serves me right……..the zipline is from one mountain to another mountain……..and if you zipped going to the other end and decided not to zipped again in your starting portion…what you have to do is to prepare for a three to four hours hiking……..so it is much easier if you will finish the zipline activity hahahahahahahaha
Its too high……if you happen to do this activity heres how will I described it….you will see the loboc river in a very thin line….just imagine how high is that…ahahhahaahhahahhahahaa………..

If you will do the activity you have to pay 350 php…for the zip activity itself
And another 250 php for the picture (35 shots)……………………………….plus you get a free one picture……….:)

    two thumbs up........

How much my trip cost me?

by paolodecastro Updated Nov 1, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I think this is very informative…on how much the traveller spend during a trip…I just don’t know if this is permitted in this site…….

2400 for my two days accommodation in VEST Pension House
750 for the Countryside Tour (I share with friends here)
2500 for the Panglao tour ( I sidetrip to the Zipline and the Clarin Ancestral House)
1200 for the food ( garden salad and lunch at the loboc and the Clarin ancvestral House)
850 for the other miscellaneous fess I paid……donations, entrance fees, etc.,)
350 for my transportation from Bulacan to airport and from the airport to my office
Overall +/- 8050 Php (excluded is the plain tickets and the expenses for the souvernirs)

    EAT...pray...make friends & see BOHOL

by paolodecastro Updated Oct 12, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I had my Lunch at the Loboc floating restaurant with Buena and Marco (during Day 1 of the tour)…………..
I thought that there will only be about two to three floating restaurants…….but I think I saw eight if im not mistaken….
There were already traffic in the loboc river…hahhahahahahaaa
    The food……buffet style…….....food..quite ok...but the scene..its too beautiful........it is an experience of a lifetime........:)

The tip here is that when you go for the countryside tour much better if your tourguide…can contact or make reservations…….to any of the floating restaurant here in the loboc river…………so you can save time…..because expect many tourist to dine here……at 11:00 am-12:00nn

The feeling….its very nice…..plus you get the chance to hear Boholeno singers………doing different kind of songs with a twist………..(they turned every song in reggaebut with a bohol accent)

Our boat stopped at a certain part where we got the chance to see little boys and girls singing and dancing with the different dance songs popularized by sexbomb with a twist……..hahahahhahahhaa

Overall the experience is something memorable…………
    I enjoyed a lot…hahhhaahaaa

Also I dined at the CLARIN Ancestral House (during day 2 of the trip)………
I once saw it in Jessica Soho’s TV show……..and ironically it is not included in the itenerary for the countryside tour
As expected…it is an old house of the former Philippine Senator……..(the rest of the historical facts about the house the traveller has to find out)……

This restaurant is famous for their crab or “Alimango” which they hunt only in their background…………..
If you go there you will see many holes inside the backyard……… this is where the crab will come out….
They provided some tools like the bamboo thing (as shown in my picture) to get these delicious crabs…….

The restaurant caters for conference and business functions……
They also provided a couple of four to six seater tables at the background……

The sad part of this is that I didn’t get the chance to taste their “Ginataang Alimango” their famous cuisine
I think every tourist should know that YOU have to order one day in advance for their famous/bestseller menu….
They said that the crab menu is very hard to cook for it takes long hours of preparation……
Cannot do anything about it so I have to settle for their other menu…its already lunch time……..

Another thing a tourist should find out is that…….if you go here and they conduct a tour
Inside the house….they will charge you for a certain fee…..;) (the price I don’t know)

    PRAY………make friends……and see Bohol….

by paolodecastro Updated Oct 12, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Inluded in the tour are Bohol’s famous churches……..like the Baclayon and the Dauis church (known for the miracolous well inside the altar)………
I think part of being a Filipino is being religious……..if we go to a certain place we will find time to go to the famous churches within the area……….im sure of that.....

Some things you have to know about these churches:

In the Baclayon church…..it is the law there that women cannot enter the church with exposed shoulders, mini dress and spagetti strap shirts……but you can enter if you will wear the cloak (this is for free) provided by the church at the entrance doors………

Also here in the Baclayon church……there is this image of St. Pius ( I don’t exactly know, please correct me if im wrong) in the exterior column of the church…one will see the face of a man here (did you see it already)……..

In the dauis church…..i think everybody knows this about the Mama Mary's well..inside the altar……..
The well is enclosed and tourist cannot open the glass cap……..(but I tried to being a pasaway, the lady incharge just stopped me hahahaaa)….

Tourist can get a bottle of mineral water at the back of the church…but they require a donation of any amount……

During my travels here I stopped and kneeled and pray for the God’s guidance ………….

Also I prayed that HE would still give the opportunity to travel…..maybe this time outside the country……(too much).....

Facade of the Baclayon Church......... Image of St. Pius...see it already...... Wear a cloak if you have sleeveless shirt....... Facade of the Dauis Church.... Mama Mary

I usually travel on my own like what I wrote in my homepage.....
But this time around I had the chance to meet new friends Vters Buena and Marco........
Im just fortunate that our schedule jived during our Bohol trip.........
I was with them during the Countryside tour only.....because the following day they have to go to Cebu for a conference.......I think they tried the Skywalk Adventure there hahhahahaah I envy them........
    We had a goodtime.....
Especially during our trip......to the chocolate hills and the butterfly garden....
Good thing if you have friends doing the tour it will save you some money.......
I am supposed to pay 2500 for the countryside tour alone if I will travel on my own
But because im with them I just paid lesss tan 800 pesos........thats a nice saving already
Another thing is that when you have companion........there will always be someone who will take your pictures..............

On my second day........yup I traveled on my own......
But my tourguide/driver is Kuya Arman
He ¡s a nice person he took all my pictures and videos hahahahahahaha
He even shared…..stories with me………and we even laughed the whole trip especially that incident that we forget to pay our lunch in the Clarin residence and we pictured the face of the cashier…..cursing us hhahaahahahhaahhaa (but this is another story ill tell you later)

Butterfly Garden…..be pictured like a butterfly

by paolodecastro Updated Nov 1, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

In the butterfly garden there is an entrance fee 30.00 Php for the adult….& 5.00 for children (I paid 5.00 php) ahhahahaaaa joke……..

When you go here be the butterfly that you can be......or a fairy...or be Both...;)

There are many things I learned…..and laughed about in this site
    1. That there is a shemale/android butterfly……………wtf…….
    2. That they have the largest catched butterfly………..i just don’t kow if it is in the Philippines alone or in the world…….(this you have to find out for yourself)…….then correct me if im wrong….
    3. That it is just a superstitious belief…that butterfly can make you blind …or the powdery thing in their wings….the superstitious belief die right there at this moment…….hahhaaha
    4. That butterflies are like DOG’s they can play DEAD…wow……perhaps the dogs should learn a new trick now…….
    5. That there is a bird that you can see within the vicinity of the Butterfly garden named ‘FLYING BULBUL”……….will not explain anymore……….
    6. That the favorite flower of the butterflies in the Butterfly garden is named “KANTUTAY” lol……………
    7. That the lifespan of every butterfly is just in a few days………………..*

During my trip here……..ironically the mascot of the butterfly garden is not a butterfly but a tarsier hahahahahaha

Also, the guides who explained everything to you regarding the butterfly thing knows how to take a good picture and has a good sense of humor…….they can picture you as butterflies and as fairies…..just like in my photos…………..

BE PICTURED LIKE A BUTTERFLY OR A FAIRY OR BOTH...;)*

Be the butterfly...that you can be..... Become Fairies too....... The flying BULBUL......lol The Kantutay flower me and the tarsier mascot.......

    OSTRICH FARM……………….

by paolodecastro Updated Nov 1, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is already in the second day of the tour………I started early in the morning….the ostrich farm its quite ok……..
There are also other animals in the site like the biggest phyton in Bohol…I saw it in the TV and the owner kissed it also the fact that the phyton can eat one whole lechon……don’t want to get near it…….

I though I can ride the back of the ostrich but the caretaker would not allow me because the bird might kick me………

So I just contend myself of taking pictures of it at a distance I was also scared because the ostrich has a very longneck and it I draw close to the fence might bite me in the head….that will hurt maybe hahhahaahahahhaa

One nice area is that there is a wooden replica of a phyton which you can get some of your pics like I did………

Scared...ostrich may bite my head..... My egg..as big as this......lol help........playing caught up by an anaconda.....

ON Selecting Tour Packages....Which is Which

by paolodecastro Updated Nov 1, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I took the tours offered by the hotel…but this is expensive ………if you will go diretcly to the tourguide/driver............

But be sure that you will hire tourguide that can be your driver also…..

    Why it is expensive?
If the hotel asked 2500 for the price of the countryside tour
    700 goes to the hotel………..
But if you go directly to the driver…….it is less expensive than the 2500 php offere by the hotel
    That I am very sure……….

    Last days...of Summer...going to Bohol

by paolodecastro Updated Nov 1, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Honestly
    i chose the dates May 22-24, 2011
for my travel here in Bohol...because of the cost of the plane ticket..
and secondly, the report of the PAGASA then that the start of SUMMER will be in JUNE....
    As always...the PAGASA was wrong.....

and during my trip I experienced everyday raining in BOHOL.....
maybe GOD is just kind to us (tourists that time) that he allowed sunshine to reign...for my entire trip.......

but, to tell the truth......rain will definitely ruin the trip......
much more in the succeeding days after the may 24......
its raining in every part of the country...
and typhoons are starting to come.......

maybe much safer if you will plan your trip not later than the second week of May.....
    just an advice.......based on experience

    You REAP.......what you SOW...........

by paolodecastro Updated Nov 1, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I will share...something about my travel......
When i was doing the Pangalo tour.......i ate lunch at the Olegario Cafe....in the Clarin Ancestral house....

I didnt get the chance to eat their specialty menu...the CRAB.....
so what i did i just ordered on what is available...(see my restaurant review).......

Then there were these new tourists and they were assisted to go and explore the upper floor of the house which they conduct tours.......(the cashier didnot offer that to me hahhahaaa) but its ok i also lived in an ancestral house....i am very familiar with it...and i am very used to it....hhahahaaa

then when we left the house...we were going to our next destination....the zipline adventure........we were on the middle of the journey when i remembered that we havent paid the lunch......which cost 425 pesos.....

we just went on the zipline after that......we went back to pay for the lunch in the Olegario cafe......the cashier was teary eyed.........and she thank me for doing this act of goodness........ for me its just the right thing to do......then everything is ok....i rode the car.....and went straight to the hotel.....

then suddenly when i was about to go to the hotel....
i remembered again( i am getting forgetful didnt I) that i left the peanut fingers i paid in ostrich farm.........
i left it outside.........i just thought that...that maybe it was already gone....but my tourguide kuya arman...suggested to still go there....maybe the cashier saw it and are just waiting for my return there......

neverthless...i still went there hoping that i could still get the things i bought.......
and good thing i got what i lost..thank god the cashier saw it outside the farm and she picked it up waiting for my return...thats very nice..........

    now i know......its Good Karma.......you will just reap...what you sow....:) ;)
