Before I though that the man made forest is just like man-made falls, caves and animals in the concrete place , its just when I was there and our tourguide Kuya Sou announced that we were already in the Man made forest....and i was very wrong. It is actually huge number of Mahogany trees planted some thirty to forty years ago before it became like this.
They said that the place is just like FORKS setting of the movie Twilight……..yup based on what I see it is just like that…not that much sunlight….the sky is almost covered with leaves and leaves and branches of trees……..When we were there it is somewhat raining……..but we manage to get a good picture……hahahahahaa thank GOD……
But i imagined this...as the site of the movie..HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS...although the trees in the movies are bamboos......the color...its just too much GREEN ......like that...:)
This man-made mahogany forest two-kilometer stretched along the hi-way of Bilar town is one of the main road way to Chocolate Hills. So you can stop and have some picture taking in this refreshing, green and clean area. You can see tall, almost equal in heights mahogany trees, giant and thick ferns, moist-forest soil and to mention the forest scent FRESH AIR only.
I recommend you to stay for about 10 minutes, have a short walk along anyway the driver (if you hire a van or motorcycle) will be just waiting for you.
What you will see is a 2 Km stretched of giant Mohogany trees that look like thousands of giants guarding the winding road. Almost all the trees have the same height and that makes the place beautiful..There is a drop of temperature once you’re inside the canopy. The place is silent and for nature lovers this is perfect.
I also saw a number of some kind of scaly worm.
On your way to Carmen to view the Chocolate Hills, you’ll pass by what they call the “man-made forest”. What this is, is a result of a nationwide reforestation program by the government during the 1960’s. Thousands of mahogany seedlings where planted on almost a thousand hectares of land. And they grew up to form this wonderful place where you can feel the freshness of air and the coolness of the breeze. Passing by, it would turn a bit dark as the sunlight is blocked by the hundreds of leaves and branches.
I don’t know if it is a local custom but Lito our tour guide / driver stopped the vehicle right in the middle of the forest and then he instructed us to jump in the middle of the street while he takes a picture. Could have been a gimmick but hey, the photo turned out good.
1960 a nationwide reforestation program was launched by the president Diosdado Macapagal, thousands of Mahogany seedlings were planted on this empty area of Bilar and Lobo. From many years the forest is being enjoyed of the tourist who passes by. With the tall, big and thriving green trees that you can see it all along the road its really nice.

The road here is lined up with tightly spaced, tall mahogany trees on both sides forming a tunnel-like passage to and from the Chocolate hills town. We had fun taking our pictures in the middle of the road.
It's just on the road of Bilar. You can pass this place going to Chocolate hills. Entrance is Free. Cool place to stay even in the middle of the day.
