    Panglao Island is easy two explore. There are three main roads emanating from the 2 bridges connecting the island to Panglao and all roads lead to the poblacion of the town of Panglao. The best way to go around Panglao is by motorcyle, either self driven or with a driver guide. In my case, I have a guide with motorcyle and he had become my good friend. through motorcyle, I was able to explore even those places seldom reached by other visitors.

    Panglao island is such a beautiful island with breathtaking coast lines. There are also other islands near Panglao that are worthy one's trip. Thus, a boat is indispensable. There are a lot of boats for hire in the island. You can pick one at Alona Beach, the fishermen village in Barangay Danao and the small wharf near the Panglao church. they all charge reasonable rate. Be sure to indicate the places you want to reach and they are friendly enough to recommend other places without extra cost.

  • Private taxi drivers will be harassing you the moment you step out of ferry terminal or Tagbilaran airport. One way taxi transfer is between PHP300-450. - 1/2 hour road transport time to Alona Beach Your hotel will be more than willing to pick you up at PHP450 per trip. If you really want to reduce the fare to PHP300, walk straight to a nearest cafe for a bottle of Coke (PHP11) and wait for few drivers coming to you the moment all visitors seen to hop on negotiated vehicles. When the supply is more than demand, the price of taxi fare will drop. Prices quoted are one way only, please double the amount for budgeting purpose. Take USD1 = PHP50 for easy calculation purpose.

    International divers from Singapore or Hong Kong can fly Cebu Pacific Air to Cebu Island & arrive at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (Cebu Pacific's hub), catch a speed boat to Tagbilaran one way PHP400. Weesam (Pier 4) is currently offering PHP500 for return tickets. Divers/visitors from Kuala Lumpur will need to transit at Manila and fly Tagbilaran on next available flight. Forget about Air Asia/Tiger Airway (arrive at Clark) because you'll need extra hours/day to finally fly into Cebu due to the distance/timing limitation.

    If you decide to go on island hopping, dolphin watchin or snorkelling, boat owners are everywhere the beach of Alona offering their services. Price of rental of 1 boat is P1500.

    When you're heading for Alona Beach on Panglao you will pass through Tacbilaran. The normal way would be with the Supercat ferry (http://www.supercat.com.ph/) from Cebu City or Dumaguete. Once off the ferry you can get a taxi or a tricycle (3 wheel motorcycle with side car). If you're travelling alone the tricycle is the cheapest solution (something like 150-200 PHP) but if you're travelling in a group a taxi will be pretty much the same. In either case you should expect to spend around 40 minutes passing through a beautyful countryside before arriving in Alona Beach. Notice that there might still be 200 m to go (e.g. to Alonaville) when they wont take you any longer! Ask them to carry your bag if you're bringing your own dive equipment.

    According to Mang Jun our hired taxi during our trip in Bohol there we're only 50 taxi's registered for hire in Bohol during peak seasons these taxis were fully booked and busy touring the visitors of the Island. Taxi fare Tagbilaran to Tawala Panglao cost you 300php-400php one way. We are lucky to found Mang June as our service (refferal from a friend), he picked-up us at the airport and drop-off at the pier and even booked us at Bohol Divers Resort which we have enjoyed our stay.   • We were fortunate enough to meet Nito (the driver of cab Red ~42) on our second day on Panglao Island. He was always cheerful and most of all reliable! One day (Sunday) we had to use a different driver because Nito was involved with his church. What a disaster! We were badly let down. This only server to highlight the great service we got from Nito.

  • approximately 20 mins is the travel time from tagbilaran airport to panglao island. it is better if you already contacted someone who will fetch you. if none yet...you have to deal with the drivers who are outside the airport offering their services. if you need a ride or tour at bohol...contact ROD at +63-918-5914969. this guy is friendly, knows much about bohol and its sites and will even give you advises so that your stay will be pleasant. he even helped us find a resort.
