Coming from Tagbilaran and going to Loboc, you will pass by the town of Albuquerque or more popularly known among the locals as Albur. On the left side, a sign that Bohol's biggest boa in captivity is easy to go unnoticed. So the next time you visit Bohol, I recommend that you look for the sign and do drop in. You will discover that there is, indeed, a big snake in a private residence. According to the owner of the house, they caught the snake in their backyard when it was still small. There are pictures of the snake and how they gulp a small animals from chicken to goat. There are also some cages with birds and small animals. Aside from the big snake, there are also big trees and a glipmse on how people live in a semi-forest environment. Be warned, though, that the road leading to the house is a rough and bumpy one. Leave a Comment Address: Albur, BoholDirections: From Tagbilaran, take the eastern loop road. After Baclayon is the town of Albur and on the left side of the road, there is an elementary school before the sign.

 | | | | DOLPHIN WATCHING | Tip Rating: | | | | |
I have seen dolphins in dolphin shows, in theme parks and while on a ship (very fleeting glimpse) but nothing compares to seeing dolphins frolic right before your eyes in open sea. Dolphin watching is a staple in every trip in Bohol. There are some who would rather skip it because it means waking up at 4:00 am during a vacation. But for those who ventured in this wonderful experience in the early morning would agree with me that it is a blissful experience. The Bohol Sea is said to be the home/breeding ground of dolphins and whales. While whales are seldom spotted, dolphins regularly appear as they forrage for food during morning. They are aplenty in the surrounding area of Pamilacan island. Although, about 30 minute boat ride from Alona beach, there are still a lot of dolphins you can watch. Baclayon offers some guided dolphin watching tours. The destination is the area near Pamilacan Island. Please refer to my transportation tips for details. Panglao Island has several boatmen which you can contract with for dolphin watching. The rate is from P1,000 to P1,500. I always take the Alona boat as the boatman fetches its client from the hotel/resort. One of the things to consider is that the boatman should also be a good spotter of dolphins so that you can maximize the time. Taking pictures of dolphins proved to be hard, if not frustrating, for an ordinary tourist with an ordinary camera. They move so swiftly that once the shutter was pressed, they are all gone in the water. A high speed camera is needed if you want to take good pictures of them. In my travel page, the pictures are taken from an ordinary digital camera. Leave a Comment

 | | | | SEE BOHOL FROM THE SEA | Tip Rating: | | | | |
Those who visit Bohol would really claim that it is a beautiful place. We often see Bohol while we are inside Bohol Another way is to see Bohol is from the sea where you will see the coastline, the mountains and even some famous landmarks. The best way to see Bohol Island from the outside, looking in is by travelling by the sea. There are small atolls along the way and some fishermen sitting quietly on their small bancas. From Cebu, you know you are nearing Bohol when the boat passes Sauwang Pass between Macpoc, Loon (on your left) and Cabilao Island (on your right). On the right side, you can see the white beach of Cabilao Island, another popular destination for divers. On the left side, you will see the coast of Loon, the big white cross nestled atop the mountain, the coast of Maribojoc, the Punta Cruz Watchtower, the town of Cortez. As you near the Tagbilaran City port, you will see Caingin Beach, the Bohol Tropics Hotel, the big Shell and Petron depots. The the green water of Tagbilaran will greet and welcome you to Bohol. If you are not in a hurry, take the fast ferry to see the Bohol in a different way. Leave a Comment

 | | | | ISLAND HOPPING | Tip Rating: | | | | |
There are exciting islands in the Province of Bohol. The most accessible are the island south of Bohol like Panglao, Balicasag, Pamilacan, Pungtod, Gakang. Cabilao island is on the western part together with Inanoran, Pangagan, Mantatao, Abucayan etc. These islands could be seen on the way to Sagbayan Peak. The Northern part is has several islands but they are far fromTagbilaran City and it would take days just to see them. I plan to visit Cabilao island next trip as I have to stay at least two days to really appreciate it. So far, I have been to Balicasag, Pamilacan, Pungtod and Gakang. Still a small percentage in relation to the number of other islands in Bohol but it is a good start. Leave a Comment
