Steven Spielberg must have been a secret visitor to Bohol once, his character Yoda in Star Wars is undoubtedly has the same physical features as the tarsier. One of the few islands in Southeast Asia where this cute furry animal call it home, Bohol has been on the forefront in the preservation of this endangered species and has lately been successful in reversing the extinction trend. These nocturnal creatures are tamed when grown in captivity. They can be seen clinging on bushes with those staring big round eyes wide open but seem to be blinded by the brightness of the day. My kids are over-excited in getting a real feel and touch of this very intriguing animal. They made sure to have in record in camera the encounter as any Bohol visitor would want to. My four children consider their first encounter with a real and breathing tarsier as the most memorable and most exciting moment in our 11-day Visayan tour. The pictures confirm so. Address: Loboc River Souvenir Shop.Directions: On the river dock of the floating restaurants, one souvenir shop has this DENR-approved tarsiers in captivity. Numbering about a dozen.

Boat ride that will cost about P4,000 minimum of 2 pax and max of 8 pax in a boat. you have 2 boatmen onboard. They will bring you to the natural habitat of the dolphins and also in an island of your choice for snorkeling, and we chose Balicasag. I love this so much because the dolphins that we saw were really close to our boat, instead of taking their pics I just cant help but look at how they swim freely. The boat was also fast and we were running after the dolphins, so fun and cool! Leave a Comment

At the government-run Tarsier Visitors Center, tarsiers are in captive breeding program to reverse the extinction of this small furry animal - considered as the smallest monkey. The center's building houses framed pictures, posters, in-the-know info bits about the tarsier. A canopy of tall trees and thick bushes right at the back of the building is a portion of the jungle reservation in which visitors could take a guided hike and go tarsier-spotting. At daytime, these nocturnal creatures are not moving and seems to be sleeping. But when they detect some movements, a wide-eyed stare is a freeze-frame moment for the visitor. The program to save the tarsier has been a success, the number of tarsiers in the wild have been increasing. Thumbs up! Address: Corella, BoholDirections: About 10 kms from Tagbilaran taking the inland road going to Corella. Or from Loboc, it is past the town of Sikatuna heading to Corella. No access by public transpo here. Renting a vehicle is recommended.Website: www.philippinetarsier.org

on your way to the tarsier, you can first pass by the monument on Blood Compact. In the Philippines this is a very historic event. Then you cna also visit the Baclayon Church to see the ancient structure of churches then. I think this si the first church built in the Philippines. Leave a Comment

Loboc River offers a very calming moment as you cruise probably because we were the only group during that time. We did it in the afternoon and we missed already the buffet lunch they have. So we just cruised there just sitting on the big raft. At the end of the short cruise is Busay Falls. I think "busay' means short or small. Leave a Comment Address: Loboc, Bohol, PhilippinesDirections: We went to Loboc from Carmen where you can view the Chocolate Hills. We just use the same road on the way back and told the driver to drop us off at Loboc River. The start of the cruise is right in front of Loboc Church and Museum.

A panoramic view of the Chocolate Hills is what everybody wants. These identically shaped teardrop-like hills are natural monuments scattered in a wide area from Carmen to Sagbayan and witrhin the other adjacent towns. Such that in Sagbayan is a privately-owned resort/park named Sagbayan Peak with an elevated viewdeck giving a glimpse of these hills more up close as compared to the orignal park in Carmen. The place also has a captive-tarsier enclosed cage, butterfly farm and a children's playground. The resort has a glass-walled restaurant at the top which offers a panoramic view of these wonderful hills specially come sunset. Address: Sagbayan, BoholDirections: About 15 kilometers away from the original Chocolate Hills Park in Carmen, Bohol is the next town of Sagbayan.

Here's a summary picture of the BOHOL MENU... will give you detailed pic in the next items... YOu can do all these in just 1 day so you can just hang out in the beach in the next few days and do your water activities like scuba diving, snorkeling, dolphin watching, and the list goes on... when your plane lands, after getting your luggage/backpack, you go out and a lot of people wil offer you to rent their van...and with this you can already go through the tours (but in the rate to rent the van, this doesnt include the entrace fees, etc., but gas should)... We did this and it was safe, look for Mang Jaime. Sorry he doesnt have a mobile no. Another option is to ask the hotel to arrange this for you, more expensive but they say your paying for safety because they cna monitor where ever you are... we paid Mang Jaime around P2k for the van rate plus plus the entrance fees we had to pay in the stops... All good.... =) Leave a Comment Address: all around Bohol
