The Palakbayan promo of Philippine Airlines is the cheapest way to Bohol. For as low as P5,500, you can have a 3 days, 2 nights stay at a good hotel with free breakfast and airport transfer in Tagbilaran City or the same accommodation in Alona Beach for as low as P6,700. Considering that the round trip airfare to Tagbilaran City costs almost P7,000 exluding taxes, the Palakbayan is a good deal. Note, however, that the Palakbayan rate exludes the P1,555 travel tax and 10% EVAT. Still I would consider the palakbayan promo cheaper as the lowest Tagbilaran deal will cost around P7,800, the lowest Alona Beach deal will cost around P8,900 while the roundrip airfare (plus taxes) alone will cost around P8,500. The Palakbayan promo will end on March 30, 2006. I had availed of the Bohol packages of Palakbayan thrice this year and intend to avail of the same two more times before the promo ends.. Book with you travel agencies at least 2 weeks before the intended date. Leave a Comment

by nodarcdam There are so many beautiful places in Bohol Province and to explore them, transportation is of utmost importance. The most expensive mode of transportation is to hire a private car or van in going to the different towns of Bohol. This also the most comfortable, fastest and safest way. There are various car/van rentals in Tagbilaran City. The least expensive is to by public transportation and one can find them at the bus terminals in Tagbilaran City. Bohol has no airconditioned buses thus a long distance travel in a bus seemed tiresome and it would take a great deal of time to reach the destination. There are also numerous stops along the way. For me, the ideal way is by motorcyle, either driving one or riding at the backseat. I prefer the latter as it would afford me the luxury of just minding the scenes as I pass by. There are different places in Bohol which would require negotiating rough and rocky roads which only a motorcycle could accomplish. Tagbilaran City is teeming with motorcycle boys offering rides for a fee and haggling is allowed. There are also motorcyle boys in Alona Beach in Panglao but the rate is a little higher than in Tagbilaran City as Alona Beach is a tourist spot. In both places, the motorcycle boys are generally friendly and reasonable. I haven't encountered a motorcyle boy hustling his way around an unsuspecting visitor. I consider myself lucky as I have established good relations with the motorcycle boys of Alona Beach. Everytime I go there, I make it a point to hang out with them at their stations. As I have said, they are friendly and accomodating. Don't get imtimidated with some of them who looked like bullies. Going to Bohol is not problem for me as I would just contact my friends and they would pick me up from the airport. I was able to reach the different towns in Bohol courtesy of the my friends/motorcycle boys. Leave a Comment Theme: Motorcycle

The first time I went to Bohol in 2000, I have to pass by Cebu and take the ferry as the Tagbilaran airport was closed then. Even when the airport was rehabilated and opened in 2003, there are instances that I take the Manila-Cebu-Tagbilaran route specially during long vacation. That way, I covered more destinations, Cebu and Bohol. I would stay in Cebu for 3 days and in Bohol for 4 days. To some extent, it is also cheaper. There are promo airfares going to Cebu for as low as P1,000.00 then add the lowest ferry rate of P350 going to Tagiblaran and that is even less than half of the regular airfare of P3,200 to 3,500 going to Tagbilaran. For those who would like to see Cebu and Bohol, the fast ferry is the best and fastest mode of transportation. At present there are two shipping companies which provide fast ferry services from Cebu to Bohol and vice versa, namely, Ocean Jet and Weesame. In Cebu, Ocean Jet is located at Pier 1 and Weesame is at Pier 4 (Beside former Water Jet Terminal). In Bohol, they all dock at the Tagbilaran City Port (in Tagbilaran City). There is also an Ocean Jet ferry going from Cebu to Tubigon, Bohol. I have tried Ocean Jet and lately i prefer the open air seats of the vessel as it gives me a good view of the sea and the islands. Travel time is approximately one hour and thirty minutes. For Weesame the fare from Cebu to Tagbilaran or vice versa is Peso 350.00 for adult and 175.00 Children (Economy class); Peso 450.00 for Adult and 225.00 for Children (First class). While for Ocean Jet the fare from Cebu to Tagbilaran or vice versa is Peso 500.00 (Tourist class), Peso 800.00 (Business class). They always revise the schedules so better check out their respective websites. http://www.oceanjet.net. http://www.weesamexpress.com. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

by thomyorke Some people have offered us a private vehicle, V-hire, that will take us to the tourist spots in Bohol. But we decided instead to take the bus and experience traveling with the locals. This bus to Carmen for Chocolate Hills also passes by Loboc, Baclayon Church, and Blood Compact site. Personally, you don't need a private car to take you unless you don't like waiting for a bus on the way back. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Ariel and Alec by i-s-a . . Cebu Pacific is a local carrier famous for having regular "Piso Fare" promos. For this trip, we managed to get a flight for Tagbilaran for P1.00 (one way, exclusive of taxes and surcharges). Paid a total of P975.52 (P1.00 fare + P104.52 and P870.00 on taxes) ... very cheap indeed! On the negative side, their flights are always delayed :0( Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

break of dawn by i-s-a . . We paid P2,500.00 for this boat for a whole day tour...dolphin watching early in the morning and straight to Balicasag Island for our snorkeling. The boat is bigger and is good for 10 people. Also I think November is peak season hence the price. The boat comes with life vests (very old ones!). This boat was arranged for us by our driver. The "bangkero" (boatman) and his assistant are very nice. They also arranged for our group's island cottage, lunch and snorkeling. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

by littlegirl0130 from Manila you can either take PAL or cebu Pacific going to Tagbilaran (Bohol) and then back to Manila. or you cna take a route MLA to Cebu then take a ferry to Tagbilaran (Bohol) and back to Manila via plane. Your thrill, your choice!!! =) then when you're in BOHOL already, suggets you rent a van or even a motorcyle to bring you around the island... If you're going diving, snorkeling or island hopping...rent a boat! So easy to move around...ALL GOOD! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

ferry ride to tubigon by moonlighting I was a little hesistant about this ride because when we reached the ticket office in the pier there was no seat available in the aircon room. But such a great ride! Php 110 fee for two hours sailing from Cebu to Tubigon, non-aircon, double deck bed. Will put more details on this trip in my Bohol travelogues Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat
