Silang Restaurants

[UPDATE:After a tiring shopping for plants and garden accessories in Silang Bypass Road, we thought of having late lunch at Gourmet Cafe. It's been more than a year since our last visit there so we hoped to feast on large plates of vegetable salads and pasta...Unfortunately, the original site of the Cafe' was closed for renovation. Snacks and meals were being served at their store (which is now named as Gourmet Refreshers). I watched the construction of the new building of the Cafe; it was entirely different from the original structure which had a quaint ambience...They hope to reopen by October 2010.]

Whenever we felt a need to detox and/or eat healthy foods, we drove to Silang's Gourmet Cafe'. Established in the early 1990's as a roadside cafe' showcasing a wide, healthy selection of organic produce from their own farm, it has become one of the first garden-themed cafes in the area.

Gourmet Cafe' specializes in organic salads, and in fact, was the first to offer a salad bar where you can make your own salad. They also offer meals and various pasta dishes.

My husband can't quite forget his experience when he tried their Pasta Negro. He loved squids and wondered how it would taste with pasta. When it was delivered to him, the eyes of everyone, especially the children followed the pasta (which was topped with black squid ink sauce), then looked at my husband with scrutiny, as if waiting for his reaction after his first bite. My husband felt conscious, but thank God, it tasted good! He just wouldn't order it again because of the stain it leaves on the teeth :(
