During Holy Week Bantayans as well as other Filippinos are gathering in Bantayan town to attend the Lenten Procession so accommodation is difficult to find. If you decide to be there you have to book well in advance.
The whole village participated in the festivity preparing the costumes, taking part in the parade or just attending. all of them were neatly dressed and strolling in the streets or dancing to the rythmic beat of the Sinulog tune played by loud speakers. After the parade they all took to eating the tasty barbecued meat and fish in the street or browsing at the local crafts stalls put up all along the main streets.
Schoolchildren dressed in fanciful costumes comprise the main body of the parade. They have been preparing for long for the impressive performance.
I caught them getting ready in the schoolyard and they pose for me more than eagerly giving me their best smiles!!
