This will be a two part tip with more pictures of the food.
The Golden Cowrie Restaurant is easily one of the more popular seafood restaruants in Cebu City and the Outlying areas as they have many branches in and around the Cebu Metropolitan Area and even in other visayan islands and mindanao. They Have huge variety of local dishes which are mainly seafood based and you can partake of scallops, jumbo prawns, grilled tuna belly, rock lobsters, groupers, mahi mahi and more. this branch that we ate is at Salinas Drive in Lahug, Cebu City. The Best thing in this restaurant is that the prices of the seafood are way cheaper than in Manila.

Favorite Dish: again they have a very extensive selection of seafood dishes and the best are the "sinugba" (grilled) like the tuna belly at 180 pesos an order, baked scallops at 170 pesos an order, crab roe at 90 pesos an order and grilled squids at 180 pesos an order. other bestsellers include Calamares, Tuna Fingers, Baked Mussels, Pancit Guisado, and Sautéed Fresh Mushrooms. the best deal here is that they have unlimited rice offerings for the really hungry people at no extra cost.
Lechon (roast pig) is a mainstay of Philippine Cuisine and the star of the filipino buffet and every region has it's own style of the famous roast pig. Here in Cebu, they say that the best Cebu Style Lechon to Have is at Zubuchon, Zubuchon is a restaurant chain specializing in roast pig and other local dishes. It was tasted by the famous chef and personality Anthony Bourdain of the No Reservations TV Show of Travel and Living Channel and he proclaimed as the best pig ever (eith the roast pig of bali at second and puerto rico at third). Zubuchon is a play on Zubu (spanish word for cebu) and Lechon hence zubuchon. they have a number of branches around the city and even at the airport where you can dine in and also take out a whole roast pig for hand carry via a corrugated box hehehe.
their main branch is at:

Favorite Dish: what elso but the cebu style roast pig which unlike in manila, you don't need a dipping sauce of any (or you can have the pinakurat vinegar as dipping sauce too) the cebu roast pig is aromatic due to the lemongrass that they stuff plus other herbs inside the pig carcass. a 1/4 kilo order with rice of lechon will cost 170 pesos. a kilo of lechon will cost 500 pesos. other dishes available are the cebu sisig with rice at 160 pesos an order and the cebu adobo at 150 pesos an order.
according to their facebook page:
Foremost, Zubuchon’s pigs are not from commercial piggeries but are hand-picked from pigs raised in the backyards of certain individuals. They do not use MSG or commercial mixes for flavor. Instead, they use organic ingredients, including olive oil, local sea salt, homegrown lemongrass, peppers, green onions, and other herbs and spices.
Zubuchon follows the old-fashioned way of roasting pig. The pig is acupunctured and cooked manually. The pigs are staked on bamboo poles and roasted over charcoal. Compared to oven-cooked pigs or those roasted using mechanical systems, one would notice that meat roasted over charcoal usually tastes better and richer in flavor.
Upon reaching Banilad Town Center you will notice this corner Chinese Restaurant, that seems to be "inviting" you to come inside.
They say that this restaurant belongs to the Mr. Choi Kitchen family and that the staff in Cebu were trained by Mr. Choi himself.
They were trained well because they are very helpful and will serve you with gusto.
You can choose fresh seafood and have them cook them your own way, or choose from the menu.
You can even tell them if you want the treasures served in Lauriat style(rice last) or Filipino style(Rice first, or served with the dishes).
Monday to Sunday 11:30am to 2:30pm for lunch and 5:30pm to 9:30pm for dinner

Don't get me wrong ......Its GOOD but its too salty for my taste buds....
When I learned that I was going to Cebu I listed several restaurants that I wanted to try. I think I've listed around 20 of them and I'm glad that I was able to go to one of them: Laguna Garden Café, The Terraces
Cebu Business Park, Ayala Center, Cebu.
Did they live up to my expectations?
They even surpassed them!
The award-winning Café's atmosphere is very welcoming and you would notice that it is very, very clean.
*The service crew look pleasant and spiffy;
*The food is delicious and world class;
*The toilets are clean and definitely does not smell bad.
Favorite Dish: EVERYTHING is a MUST TRY!
The grilled squid is very juicy;
The Cebu Style grilled fish is mouthwatering;
The vegetables are cooked just right;
The desserts are very, very delicious and unforgettable
Vienna Kaffeehaus may be nothing fancy, but it boasts of great coffee(hot and cold), desserts, authentic Viennese Cuisine, and Filipino delights.
Favorite Dish: (Check the pix...those are our favorites)
Cebu's Cacao is exported worldwide and one of the Cafe Chains in the Queen City of the South that promotes this in full glory is TABLEA CHOCOLATE CAFE.
They have a wide array of cakes, pastries, local delicacies, Mexican/Spanish delights, delicious coffee, tea, and chocolate drinks.
Their service is also great, the place is clean, and is very, very cozy.
EVERYTHING is a must try, but you must taste their version of Churros con Chocolate.

It was a great surprise when we got the bill(my cousin footed the bill) and it was just a little above PhP300. We got several slices of cakes, several loaves of bread, etc.
The cakes are moist and the bread have a unique sense of excitability. There's excitement with every bite and it's very, very delicious.

Favorite Dish: Casino Español boasts of great food and even their Manila branch, I love their Lengua Estofada...it's simply the best. It's mouthwatering and it melts in your mouth.
As the above title says I couldn`t believe the difference & improvements that now made up Yayoy`s
18 mnths earlier this was just your average slightly run down grill & resto bar.Everything about this place before was average.
A walk along the street on the way to a nearby restaurant bought a great surprise & a promise to return & see if it was as good as it looked from the outside.
Yayoys seats around 200 in both an indoor type setting & a garden setting(all undercover).
The ambience is really impressive,staff very willing to help,food very tasty both from the restaurant & grill,some nights there is live entertainment.
The cost here is quite good very reasonable.
After you have finished your meal some nights there is a live band as well as a couple of dart boards if that`s your game..
All round very impressive & every time i`m in Cebu City I will definetly be returning
Favorite Dish: The Tuna Belly was delicious but my absolute favourite was the Beef Pochero.Also I can recommend the Sizzling Gambos as well as the Pork Belly.
From an Australian point of view the beer is ice cold(see my favourites tip)
there are many places to visit but its a must to go to CRAZY CRAB restaurant.. they have the best tasting garlic crab at a cheap price.. its a newly opened place in gaisano countrymall banilad. me and my friends make sure to go there at least once a week.. i havent seen any crab restaurant like this in Cebu
Favorite Dish: Garlic Crab and Garlic Rice... with Fresh Mango Fruit Shake
Open air Restaurant/Bar, with a large variety of American dishes and live entertainment on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. House favorites are the Hot Wings, Chili Cheese Fries and Corn Pups. Other items include Sweet Corn Fritters, Cheese Sticks, Chicken Tenders, Barbecued Ribs, Cheesy Garlic Rice, Macaroni and Cheese... all cooked fresh as you order, served hot to your table. Friendly female staff greets you with a smile. Beer and drink selection are large and very affordable. (Ex. San Mig light 35p, Coors Light 30p, Red Horse Litro 65p...) So come enjoy a wonderful American meal while listening to some live music (The Owner plays in a band that play on Saturdays) Located in front of CDU, next to Cebu Toyota in North Reclamation Area of Mandaue City.
Favorite Dish: Favorite dish of mine is the Barbecued ribs. This is four large bones of Pork, slow cooked until the meat is falling off the bone. Drowned in a special American homemade tangy Barbecue sauce. You will not stop until the bones are clean! I order them with the Cheesy Garlic Rice. This is a specialty dish, available only at J.C.'s and makes a wonderful side dish!!
"The Terraces", the food and dining area attached to the top-end shopping mall Ayala Center is probably the best dinner bet for foreign tourists not familiar with Cebu City. Nothing like food-courts usually found in shopping malls, The Terraces is more about an upscale hangout place with a number of alfresco restaurants serving a variety of cuisines in a well appointed environment with gardens, fountains and people all around. We came here all of the three nights we spent in Cebu after other places we were recommended failed to meet our interest. We were all in all satisfied. The choice of restaurants is pretty large; at time of our visit we found, among others, a "Modern Filipino", a Thai, a Vietnamese, an Italian, a Greek and a TGI Friday. The Greek is good. After dinner, do not miss ice cream at "Gelatissimo". Ask taxi drivers to take you to Ayala Center (or Ayala Mall); every taxi driver will know where it is.
Beehive serves mostly Spanish/ Spanish-Filipino food. The sweet vinegar dressing of the cole slaw is light and perks up the taste buds. Their freshly-baked rolls are probably the best in town. The lengua estofado (ox tongue in sauce) was tender and delicious. The pescador salsa verde was also good. For dessert, I did right in choosing the Beehive roll (chocolate with vanilla ice cream filling).
The restaurant is an extension of a residence and is a good place to have a relaxed, quiet dinner.
Sutukil restaurants are very common in Cebu, these are local restaurants where you could pick fresh seafoods and have it cook for you. During our visit we decided to try Inday Pina's Sutukil because at first we were told that they have an "over looking view" at their restaurant. We should have checked the view first because, what they were bragging about is actually a dried up swamp.The interior of the restaurant is much to be desired. The front part of the restaurant is decorated with curtain shells and wooden fish to give the underwater feel while the back of the restaurant where we dined has a few shell curtain decor.
HOWEVER, Inday Pina's lack in ambiance and restaurant decoration they made up with their food. We ordered grilled fish and pork, baked scallops and Sinigang na Hipon (Shrimp with broth). All were very delicious and the service was fast. They even have a harp player as entertainment.
Favorite Dish: Sutukil is a Bisayan word coined from SUBA-TULA and KILAW which means grilled, broth and raw. These are three ways to cook seafoods in the Visayan region and in Inday Pina's, what I liked the best was their broth. We ordered the Shrimp which we call Sinigang na Hipon in Tagalog. The broth was very tasty, It's the right combination of salty and sour. The shrimps are also very fresh. You'll enjoy it very much!
