    Golden Cowrie Restaurant: Purely Filipino

    Need more Rice?
    3 more images

I would recommend this restaurant for their delicious native cuisine. Customer service is outstanding.

Purely Filipino food like sinigang and tinola and baked tahong as their specialties. The one thing that catches my attention and I think it's awesome, are the ladies carrying around a rice pot asking us if we need more plain rice on our plate. I have seen non-Filipino restaurants in other countries with a cart of food going around, but this restaurants' concept is something different.

A very convenient place to have lunch and dinner. Very homey. If you happen to be in Cebu, drop by Golden Cowrie Restaurant and experience the truly Filipino hospitality.

    Mabuhay!

    Greenwich: Pizza Galore

    Greenwich in SM-Cebu
    1 more image

Whenever I visit the Philippines, I always take the opportunity to have a taste of one of the best pizza in town.

In Cebu, I made it a point that I do not miss the crunchy pizza that until now I believe have captured my taste buds. I especially like the crust, no doubt about it.

Greenwich is a famous pizza parlour in the Philippines and in Cebu City in particular. Take a bite or two, and you will know how good this pizza is. But mind you, it is not only pizza, there are more snacks to choose from.

You will surely enjoy the place...and the pizza!

    Goldilocks at SM-Cebu
    1 more image

I know for a fact that Goldilocks had been around for three decades in the Philippines. I happen to be in Cebu and had the chance to taste their specialty.

There are too many snacks to list down in here, but would like to name a few of the best. Cake Rolls & Sponges, native Filipino cakes, Bread Rolls, Sweet Breads, Meat Breads, Pies and Pastries, and many more.

Have a taste of an excellent Filipino pastries for your discriminating taste.

  • Larsian: Cheapest and Yummiest

    by galatea234 Written May 20, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Larsian is a place lined with a number of barbecue stands. It is a smoky haven. Among the selections of barbecues are: chicken; either wings, thigh, skin, breast, feet or intestine. There's pork barbecue and pork liver, seafood like squid and fish, chorizo, tocino and a whole lot more. You get to select any of those and hand them over to the one in charge to be cooked. You are then asked how many puso (hanging rice) you want. After that all you have to do is choose a table near the barbecue stall you chose and wait for your food to be served. Some tables are set inside, so you'll get to have a roof and maybe a little breeze from the store's electric fan. Some tables are set outside where you can have a look of the entire place. A couple of vehicles would pass by but they usually drive slowly. Really really cheap. Your Php200 can feed 3 hungry adult stomachs. :p

Favorite Dish: Inihaw na pusit, Chorizo, Inihaw na manok and the famous puso.

  • Casa Verde: The Best and Cheapest Baby Back Ribs

    by galatea234 Written May 20, 2007

Casa Verde near F. Ramos also (it's on a side street, just ask the cab driver to take a right at A. Pond along F. Ramos then turn left on the first corner and you have Casa Verde). It's actually a house in a compound so some of the cabbies are not familiar with it. Food is cheap (less than a hundred per plate) and not to miss are the ribs and callos. Very reasonable price. Trust me! I'm a cheap-expert. :)

Favorite Dish: Baby back-ribs of course.

Seafood restos in Lapu-Lapu: CEBU = seafood heaven!

    by mai_oh_mai Written Oct 22, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Cebu is a seafood gourmand's dream come true. There are a lot of seafood restaurants but most tourists hie off to a cluster of seafood shacks in Mactan. These "turo-turo" (literally, point-point) establishments sell freshly caught fish, crabs, mollusks, seaweed, and others. You choose from the day's catch and specify how you want each dish to be cooked: grilled, fried, sauteed, as soup, etcetera. A famous Cebuano dish is SUTUKIL (SUgba - to grill, TUla - soup, KILaw - for fish: raw, a la sashimi marinated in vinegar, lime juice, and pepper). Fish, big ones, are usually served sutukil style.

Don't expect fancy table settings. The amenities are very, very basic --- wooden tables, monobloc chairs --- but you get a great view of the marshlands and lots of fresh air. To really enjoy your meal, do it the Cebunao way and eat with your hands! Of course, you have to wash them first.

Favorite Dish: I love Garlic Crabs. Steamed crabs sauteed in garlic chili sauce. The dish is a bit pricey for Cebu standards though.

  • Cielo: Italian food at its best!

    by Carissa777 Written Jul 12, 2006

this is how the restaurant looks like. tres chic!
    2 more images

Cielo is an authentic Italian Restaurant with a contemporary bar and lounge, the interiors and music is quite reminiscient of NY city,
Its not one of those that try to be Italian but cant, i liked the music alot-- its different from all the alternative and OPM m.y.m.p. drama a lot of restaurants play these days.
The great thing about it is that you get a complimentary pizetta as an appetizer everytime you dine.

The restaurant then turns into a lounge/ bar towards the end of the night, and if you book birthdays with them-- you get to have a free bottle and a cake and a huge discount.

Music played is House, Mellow Techno and Ambient Lounge.

Favorite Dish: After eating once, I had to go back again and again-- I've oficially tried
The Gourmet Pizzas, (have them make the Mango and Parma pizza -- its my personal concoction and personal fave;)
Pastas, (granchio - thats tomato and crab meat, soooo awesome.; Chicken Parmigiana and the penne Rustica are my favorites)
Osso Buco, Scallopini ala Marsala and traditional Italian Desserts such as Bread pudding, panna cotta, tartufo.

AA BBQ restaurant: Not just grilled food

    by semper.max Written Nov 2, 2011

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Tasty food for an affordable price.

It's not fine-dining but if you truly want to eat then this is the place to be. You will be made to choose from a selection of fresh meat, fish, seashells, chicken, etc. and then choose how you want it cooked. Most of the time, we have them grilled and just have a large fish cooked as "sinigang"

Favorite Dish: The baked scallops are quite good. Grilled fish are also cooked in perfection. The fact that they are fresh makes them all the more tasty and delicious.

Yayoy`s Grill & Resto Bar: Couldn`t believe the difference

    Yayoy`s
    1 more image

As the above title says I couldn`t believe the difference & improvements that now made up Yayoy`s

18 mnths earlier this was just your average slightly run down grill & resto bar.Everything about this place before was average.

A walk along the street on the way to a nearby restaurant bought a great surprise & a promise to return & see if it was as good as it looked from the outside.

Yayoys seats around 200 in both an indoor type setting & a garden setting(all undercover).

The ambience is really impressive, staff very willing to help, food very tasty both from the restaurant & grill, some nights there is live entertainment.

The cost here is quite good very reasonable.

After you have finished your meal some nights there is a live band as well as a couple of dart boards if that`s your game..

All round very impressive & every time i`m in Cebu City I will definetly be returning

Favorite Dish: The Tuna Belly was delicious but my absolute favourite was the Beef Pochero. Also I can recommend the Sizzling Gambos as well as the Pork Belly.

From an Australian point of view the beer is ice cold(see my favourites tip)

    More rice?
    4 more images

This is where you want to go for typical and delicious Cebuano cooking. We ordered baked scallops, baked mussels, ribs, adobong kangkong (spinach), adobong talong (eggplant), and lechon (roast pig). Everything rocked! A lady goes around scooping unlimited free rice from a bucket that hangs from her neck.

    Favorite Dish: the adobong talong!

for pick up or delivery to mactan airport: Must Try World Famous Cebu LECHON (roasted pig)

by rmarguerite Written Jun 23, 2008

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

i have lechon once a month so can recommend the place i order it from. the smaller the tastier so since you are only 4 so far, ask for the smallest one. ordering a whole lechon beats the small chopped ones at the places that sell it coz those come from huge pigs so not as tender nor tasty.

    call (63) 32 232 8899 or another number is 232 8278

if you are pressed for time tell them to wrap it so you can take it to your next destination and they can deliver it to the airport for only p300 pesos more (less than 10USD dollars). you wont reget this (",)

    Abuhan: High Cholesterol Diet

    Abuhan Pochero

Abuhan have been in cebu for so long, they even added 2 more branches appropriately named Abuhan Dos and Abuhan Tres. We usually go to Dos and it's a big enough place that it doesn't feel to crowded especially lunch time. This is really good considering the hot Pochero Soup they are famous for can make you sweat.

Favorite Dish: This reastaurant has always been known for their Pochero, a Filipino soup that they made with beef with its marrow and probably boiled so long that they disentigrate really well with fork. The hot soup ( hot meaning cold hot and not spicy hot ) is enough to make the pores in your nose sweat and lose your make up but it is all worh it.
