After visiting Yap Sandiego and Casa Gorordo, we wandered around and almost came across this colossus by accident. It is a huge monument to the history of Cebu. A fabulous piece of art that deserves a few minutes of your time to see the conflicts and triumphs of the city.

There is no charge to visit this magnificent site, but it is truly impressive.

Credit to the sculptor Eduardo Castrillo.

I walked around 100 meters to get into Colon Street. I had the chance to see how the oldest street of the Philippines looks like.
The place was named after Christopher Columbus(Cristobal Colon - his Filipino name?).The street is the center of downtown Cebu and a little run down and very busy, lots of shops and movie houses as well as vendors and department stores. This is once the center of business activity in Colonial Cebu.
I'm too tired to walk up to the Parian district because my starting point is the corner of Osmena Blvrd so I haven't seen much about the street.

Actually I'm expecting very old buildings with Spanish designs but I failed.

This work of art is situated in the oldest street of Colon at the Parian district. I had a close look of this project and I think it is awesome. It was sculpted in brass and concrete and was completed in the Year 2000. It showcase significant events in the history of this city from the pre-historic time of Rajah Humabon to the recent beatification of Cebuano martyr Pedro Calungsod.

The man behind this amazing art is sculptor Edgardo Castillo and this has been his largest and comprehensive work. There is no doubt you will admire his skill especially on this piece. Take a good view of this Monument and had good memories of the city of Cebu.

    Calle Colon

Colon is considered as the oldest street in the Philippines.

This street is named after Christopher Columbus. I took a picture of this street situated in downtown Cebu where you will see a long line of shopping malls, stores, and other business establishments. Colon Street is a bit run-down though.

You will notice a marker that is located at one end of Calle Colon. This street is also known as the Parian District which was the old Chinese district of the city.
