    Buena Vista Cebu Car Rental

by gozeniago Written Oct 13, 2013

To travel comfortably with ease and comfort, I would suggest that you book airport transfers at Buena Vista Car Rental. The car is clean and the driver is really friendly. You can reserve through their site (http://buenavistacarrentals.com/) and a sales representative will contact you shortly after. They would require you for a 50% downpayment to confirm your reservation and the remaining amount will be paid on the day.

From the Airport to Cebu City, I paid 500 PHP. Not bad at all. They also offer Out of Town Tours. We also rented a van to Oslob and back and we paid about 4,500 PHP (Round Trip fare). The entire trip was smooth and the driver was careful.

To reserve you can email them at: buenavistarentals@gmail.com or call them through mobile 09173203009.

"The Mactan Cebu Airport" located in Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island in the small Philippine archipelago. Mactan Cebu Philippines is part of the province and is located in the immediate vicinity of the elongated island of Cebu, located directly across from Cebu City. The airport is located about ten meters above sea level.

Mactan Cebu Airport is an international airport and has only one terminal. In the vernacular it is called “Paliparang Pandaigdig ng Mactan-Cebu.” The IATA airport code is “CEB”. Since especially the province of Cebu Philippines and the capital of Cebu City are now very popular tourist areas, the importance of the airport continues to increase. Two bridges connect the island of Mactan to Cebu City. It is the home of the Cebu Pacific Airline.

The airport has several facilities: There are just over the customs control a big store with the ability to buy duty free, are also a restaurant and a gift shop available. The Cebu Pacific Counter is also located there. Particularly interesting is the massage parlor, in which all passengers can enjoy a massage before or after flying for a fee. It also offers an Pharmacy.

The Mactan Cebu Airport is based on the number of aircraft movements in second place in the national statistics, is the leader of Manila Airport, located about 600 kilometers in distance. Each year at the Mactan Cebu Airport handled three to four million passengers. International airlines such as Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airways operate here very regularly.

if you want to travel in style and in your own pace in and around cebu city and mactan island and has the money to burn or if you are in a group of 10 to 14 people, the best option of going around will be the private van service which you can rent on a daily or weekly basis and the going rate here is aboutr 2,500 pesos for the first 5 hours and 300 pesos every hour after extra up to 3,500 pesos every 5 hours and 600 pesos every hour after if you will be renting the private vans at the major hotels.

the vans can hold up to 15 people and if you are in a big group then that will be really a cheap option! there are lots of private van service being offered at the arrival desk of the cebu-mactan international airport and you can haggle too. I got mine for 3,000 pesos for the first 10 hours and 300 pesos every hour after after haggling.

the taxis in cebu city has a similar design and color to any taxis in the philippines and like everywhere the flat down rate is 50 pesos for the first kilometer and 15 pesos every 400 meters thereafter. if you plan to go around the city just to shop or in between nearby places then this will be the mode of transport that will be more practical than a jeepney as they go direct from point a to point b than the jeepneys which have several stops in between and are way less expensive than hiring a private van if you are just 3 or less in a group. they are available everywhere.

the cebu style jeepneys are similar to the jeepneys in other southern philippine cities like in davao or cagayan de oro and iloilo and they are way different than the ones in manila and luzon island. the jeepneys here are mostly regular and stretched multicab vehicles that have a modern and sleek look and has none of the bling associated with regular jeepneys in the northern luzon area. there are still a smattering of the regular type of jeepneys but the majority is these sleek type. the fare is 9 pesos for the first 4 kilometers and 1 peso per kilometer afterward and the routes they are plying are displayed prominently on the side.

Cebu Pacific Air is the No. 1 Low Budget Carrier in the Philippines (in domestic travel but in international travel, Philippine Airlines is still the Number 1 and i still prefer Philippine Airlines). The airline is a wholly-owned subsidiary of JG Summit Holdings, controlled by the Gokongwei family - one of the richest Filipino-Chinese families based in the Philippines. Cebu Pacific is currently headed by Lance Gokongwei, it's CEO. Cebu Pacific has the largest domestic destinations and is fiercely in competition with other low cost carriers like Sea Air, Air Philippines, Zest Air and the Legacy Airline Philippine Airlines. It operates like a no frills airline where even the potable water inside the aircrafts are for sale. They have 5 daily flights to and from cebu to manila and a 3x a week direct flight to seoul and busan in south korea.

PAL, what philippine airlines is called is older than cathay pacific making it Asia's Oldest Airline (and trivia-only PAL and Other Philippine Carriers are not subsidized by the Governent, bucking the trend in the rest of asia wherein other National carriers are heavily subsidiez by their Governments like Singapore Airlines, Thai Air, Malaysian Air, Royal Brunei, Emirates, Japan Airlines and others).

Philippine Airlines was founded on February 26, 1941, making it Asia's oldest carrier still operating under its current name. The airline was started by a group of businessmen led by Andres Soriano, hailed as one of the Philippines' leading industrialists at the time, who served as the General Manager, and former Senator Ramon Fernandez as Chairman and President. Government investment in September of the same year paved the way for its nationalization. Its main hub is at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the city of Parañaque with all its passenger flights involving Manila in Centennial Terminal 2 and the Hub in Cebu is at Cebu-Mactan International Airport in Lapu Lapu City Cebu Province.

    Jeepney

    A Cebu City Jeepney

PUJ`s or Jeepneys as they are known operate throughout Cebu City. Each jeepney has a set route it plys & is displayed on the side of the jeepney.A normal jeepney ride is 7 peso.To ride a jeepney you just hail it from the side of the road.A tip is it is better to have a local or someone who knows which jeepney goes where or you could end up anywhere.

Jeepneys are a cheap way to get around but most times crowded & a favourite haunt for snatchers & petty criminals.

I have ridden jeepneys but always prefer to catch a taxi & my advice to a person who is visiting Cebu City for their holidays is to take the safer option & catch a taxi

    Metered Taxi

    A standard Cebu City taxi

In my trips to Cebu City i've found taxi`s are the easiest (and coolest)way to get around

The taxis of Cebu City are white in color & easily spotted & are air conditioned. Most taxis are well looked after & after my recent trip i've found the general standard of the road worthiness of Taxi`s had improved but there still are ordinarily looked after taxi`s operating and there are still charlatan operators out there so you still need to have your wits about you, make sure the driver turns the meter on if he refuses get out & get another.I`ve only ever had trouble with one driver.I pretty well only travel in taxis so one bit of trouble out of hundreds of rides isn`t too bad

The rates are very cheap compared to western countries.Rates are 40 peso for flag fall and then 3.50 every mile or km

    Jeepneys in Cebu

different kind of jeepney in Visayas Region

Jeepneys going around the Visayas region come in a different style. The style's more colorful and I believe a little bit trendy than the jeepneys around in Metro Manila.

Jeepney is our local transportation in getting around the city and in all of the provinces in the country, due to its cheap fare, 8.50Php being the minimum fare for 5-10 km. It’s also a practical way to spend money especially if the distance you need to reach is just a few blocks away.

When you wish to ride a jeepney, you just have to wave your hand to be noticed by the jeepney driver. There are sign boards infront of the jeepney that will give a summary of a few places of its route; from the sign boards it will tell you if that is the appropriate jeepney route you need to take.

Passengers in a jeepney sit side by side and the fare is being passed on to the nearest person behind the driver. Sometimes, people used to say "Makikisuyo lang po" or "please/kindly give my fare to the driver" in English. The same thing happens when the driver gives back the change of the passenger. When you have reached your destination, you just have to shout "para" or "sa tabi lang po".

    Plane going to Cebu

by theguardianangel Written Feb 18, 2012
    inside Philippine Airlines, fiesta deal
    1 more image

If you wish to fly from any point of Luzon (Metro Manila, Makati City, etc) to Visayas (Cebu City) or Mindanao (Davao), you can choose to ride a ship, airplane or a bus.
The most common is by airplane since it saves time, convenient but the cost is a little pricey. You can book online for airlines locally and internationally through www.cebupacificair.com and www.philippineairlines.com.

for local flights and cheaper air fares at www.zestair.com or www.airphilexpress.com.
You won't have a hard time to book since the websites are in English language and credit cards are accepted as mode of payment.

for cheap airfares- local and international flights can be purchased in www.cebupacificair.com since it's an airbus. Also, the Philippine Airlines just got an airbus and you can book for a Fiesta deal to book for cheaper fare. Business Class and 1st class are also available in Philippine Airlines. another local airline providing cheap airfares is the airphilexpress, the sister company of the Philippine Airlines.

Most of all the airlines in the Philippines give lots and lots of promo fares but on a advanced travel dates, like for example today, 11-November-2011, they will give a promo of 200Php within the travel periods of Feb. 1-Mar. 2012 only.
that's how they attract customers, so plan ahead your itinerary so you can save more money and try booking online for convenience.

I agree with Buena, better you buy your round trip tickets if you are coming from Cebu itself there are many ticketing offices that would advertise Supercat and Oceanjet. I usually take Supercat, I just buy the tickets from the Pier or port area. You can book your tickets from SM mall (famous mall just ask about it everyone knows). One way is around $15 might be higher this time. Here is the link to supercat http://www.supercat.com.ph/ . I have never bought ONLINE as most links doesnt really work. Dont worry, as soon as you reach CEBU just book at the port area ask for SUPERFERRY that is the company of supercat though Oceanjet could be much cheaper.

  • Hire a scooter, save on fares, see more of Cebu

    by DPT123 Updated Jul 17, 2011

We hired a scooter from Paul at Cebuexpatservices.com. Its good dealing with a westerner for first timers in the city, and we found Paul and his wife lovely to deal with. My girlfriend and I headed north for a little adventure, Liloan, Compostella, Sogood, then across the mountains to Bogo and finally stayed at a lovely little resort called Warrens Beach Resort which is right on the northern tip at San Remigio, and is just paradise. We were the only ones there, its hard to find, and a very special place to stay.
Hiring a scooter is a much more personal experience, you see much more of the country and its lovely people. When we returned the scooter there was a lovely couple that had just returned theirs, they rode through the island (west) to the western coast, past Tops and said the scenery was magical. Total cost for the scooter is 500 peso a day. Around 10AUD
