IPod Notes!! (Paperless Travel)
Photo Equipment: Most people assume that IPod is only good for music, may be for movie (mp4) as well, but not many people actually aware that IPod is an ideal travel pal (beside your friends) that not only plays music, movie, occasional as torch (when you touch the click wheel) and I am going to share with you my advanced usage of my IPod with video (60GB).
You can store your photo images into IPod if you have a camera transfer adapter & save you the misery of running out of memory space, or taking pictures using low resolution despite your camera is capable of very high resolution pictures.
Miscellaneous: The advanced usage that I am going to share with you are all found under "Menu > Extras >" option.
You can synchronize your contacts and calendar from your Outlook or Outlook Express where you can email your friends or call your parents to greet them happy anniversaries while you're on the road.
I personally found that "Menu > Extras > Notes" feature of my IPod (check your IPod for such feature) is the best after the playback of music & video capability. I practically cut-n-paste my air ticket information, email confirmation of rooms and dive packages, budget, things to do/highlights for my destinations, transportation tips (from VT and WWW) into 4KB size files and name it according to numbering of my choice (and it will be sorted by itself).
You may click into extra picture to see my TOC for my Philippines dive planning, with content mentioned above & I also include brief description of dive site at Malapascua.
So, not all MP3 players are built the same. I've just proved it to you.
Luggage and bags: Well, you may ask why am i bringing all my dive gears from KL to Philippines when all those gears are available for renting at most dive shops.
The reason why i prefer my own gears are for economy and safety reason. By maxing up your baggage limit (15/20kg), you will be likely to travel light since you have no much baggage checking in allowance.
Why spend $$$ on renting equipments when you have complete set of them idling at home?
Why risk your life when your life depends on it, especially your regulator and BCD.
Miscellaneous: Beside, i don't know how to fin effectively underwater other than using my yellow Pro Force Fin.
- Diving and Snorkeling
don't grope in the dark, bring flashlight!
Luggage and bags: some resorts have 24-hr electricity, others don't. the village is lit in a few streets. not all homes have electricity. if you are fond of little alleys, shortcuts and detours, expect to find yourself groping in the dark as you find your way back to your resort.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Do not bring fancy shoes - most of the time you'll be wearing flip-flops or go around bare-footed.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Remeber to bring a strong mosquito repellent, as the mosquitos are very hungry!
Always apply it when outside in late afternoon and evening! Don't forget it otherwise you'll be eaten alive! I've got bitten on the sole of my feet and it was a torture!
- Spa and Resort
everything your little bag can have
Luggage and bags: Preferably waterproof.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Slippers are more appropriate. Depending on the weather, you can bring your sexiest clothes and a coat because it can get really cold during the rainy seasons.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Buy a waterproof/sandproof food container - small enough to house your camera or other gadgets that is so essential to your survival. Ziplock is passe'. Conditioner is important, unless you don't mind looking like a 'taong-grasa'. There are sari-sari store in the island that sells shampoos, conditioners and soaps.
Photo Equipment: Bring extra batteries for your gadgets - you might find it hard to recharged. Underwater camera is best so long as you know what you're doing. But pay attention to how deep it can go. I bought a cheap one for Boracay awhile back, a few meters off the beach and it was already filled with water.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: You can bring camping gear but I haven't seen anybody who camped when we were there.
Miscellaneous: Off lotion, sungglasses, lotion, sunscreen, snorkel, swinsuits, jacket/windbreaker. You can leave behind your ATMs and credit cards.
