Wang Shan Lo: Chinese style Buffet

by sunshine_01

We read some reviews on the local magazine that the food at Wang Shan Lo was good and the chef was from Hong Kong. It was located at the 20th floor of Club Ultima. After trying chinese food at a few chinese restaurants, we were disappointed with the standard of their food. We were hopeful that this restaurant would offer dim sum with great taste.Wang Shan Lo has a very impressive decor with many red lanterns hanging on the ceiling. There was quite a good selection of food. The stir-fried celery and scallops were good. The skin of hau kau(shrimp dumpling) was soggy and doesn't have the springy texture. The siu mai was so so. There was one dish which I can't remember the name... something beard. It was deep fried and it was made from the skin of spring roll. It looks exquisite but it's taste was ruined because of the use of rancid oil. There was an odd taste to it. If you have dine in good...

CNT Restaurant: Yummy Lechon

by joanjeana

A must try here in Cebu, their best tasting lechon! It is advisable to go there around 10am so you can choose what part of lechon you'd like to order. Many people are flocking to this resto just to try this yummy lechon!

Bigby's Cafe: inter-continental dishes

by sunshine_01

Restaurant has a simple and nice design. On a few occasions when we dined at the restaurant, we saw a few of the staff gathering at a diner's table. The staff seemed having lots of fun singing birthday song and shaking the tambourine. Nice gesture from the restaurant to make the customers feel important during their birthday.Rodeo (P168.75) - grilled pork with rice and craneberry sauce. The pork was grilled to perfection.... juicy and tender. The combination of different texture of crispy skin, almost melt in your mouth fat and tender meat is simply delicious. Quesa sage :half order (P106.25) - Quesadilla with mince meat and cheese filling and tomato dip. It is flavourful and not too salty. Spinach dip (P156.25) - blended spinach with lots of cheese. It is best eaten with toasted bread while it is hot and gooey. 1 Ice tea (P58) 1 cold calamansi (P44.64).However, Diavola (P168.75) was a...

Delicious Go Nuts Donuts

by sunshine_01

Compared to other brands such as Dunkin Donuts etc, the donuts from Go Nuts donuts were better in terms of texture as well as moisture. The donuts were soft and moist and they had a variety of flavors to choose from. I find the donuts a bit oily though. The average price of each donuts is about 30peso. 1 pc of chocolate frost loops, 2pc of peanut butter frost loops, 1 pc of choco-hazelnut stuffit, 2 pc of coffee caramel cost about 135peso. It is slightly expensive than Dukin Donuts which cost around 10peso each.

Plato Wraps:

by sunshine_01

It is one of the many food stands located inside SM shopping mall. If offers 5 different types of fillings such as ham & cheese, tuna and chicken etc. The wrap tasted a bit like bread and it makes a great snack; cheap and good.

Chika-an sa Cebu: Yummy Lukot, etc.!

by monina_c

This is a local restaurant located on the 2nd floor of SM Cebu. The place is very nicely appointed, family-oriented kind of place. The prices aren't all that expensive. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable about their products and very quick to respond to the needs of the costumers. Halaan soup with lukot (local seaweeds), sizzling eggplant (wish it was spicier) and grilled spareribs. I wished I'd tried the kinilaw na tuna, it look delicious!

Abuhan Dos: signature dish- beef pocheros

by sunshine_01

When we placed an order for pochero (beef bone soup), we didn't expect the portion to be very big. When they placed the huge bowl of soup on our table, it is enough to feed 4 person. The soup was tasy and the beef was tender but the soup was a bit salty. It was served with a small knife for cutting off beef still attached to the bone. The sizzling pochero was served on a hotplate and there are gravy on top of the pochero. The beef was tender too. The best part about eating pochero is where you get to suck the melt-in-your-mouth bone marrow. Yum Yum. Eating pochero reminds me of Sup tulang (bone marrow beef/mutton soup) in Singapore. The bones are cooked in spicy tomato sauce, it can look disgusting with it's blood red sauce but it is really tasty. You eat the bits of meat on the tulung(bone) with your hands and then you suck out the bone marrow. One tip to savour the bone marrow in the...

No problem restaurant: Fresh Seafood

by sunshine_01

Our local friend recommended that this restaurant sells fresh seafood at a much cheaper price as compared to the other stalls at Sutokil. You get to choose from the selection of seafood available for the day: crab, fish, prawn, seaweed, oyster, clam etc from the counter and specify how you want them to be cooked. The restaurant has simple and rustic decor. We ordered a steam crab, both types of seaweed(guso & lato)salad, clam soup, calamari, steam rice, yellow mango shake and coke. They were very delicious. The calamari was tasty and juicy but not tough. Guso itself don't seem to have a strong flavour or taste but it has a firm texture. As for lato, when you bite into them it will release a salty liquid just like when you eat raw fish roe. The clam soup is served in a big bowl and we drank the clam soup in a mug. The soup is fresh and has the sweetness of the clam.We were told that the...

AA sa A.A. Fortuna Restaurant: Delicious local fish: Bangus(milk fish)

by sunshine_01

You choose your food at a counter and then specify to them how you want your food to be done. We wanted our bangus deep fried and they deep fried them just right. It was really crispy on the outside and the flesh was tender and juicy. The bungus looked unappetising and ugly but don't be fooled by its looks. You can't eat the skin because they didn't remove the scales. We had grilled pork belly, chicken, eggplant salad(sour) and mango shake. They were delicious and cheap. It should cost around P400~P500. We ordered deep fried bungus at another branch near Lahug but the bugus was fried till they were too dry. AA ISDA Baboy N' BBQ: address: Salinas Drive, Lahug, Cebu City tel: 261 1562 Deep fried bungus or grilled bungus. Love the texture of the fish.

Yakiniku Tajima: Grilled beef

by sunshine_01

We saw Tajima's advertisement on the local newspaper that offers all-you-can-eat beef and a glass of shyochu for free for P400 per person. There are many types or cuts of beef available on the menu however, the all you-can-eat-beef offer applies only to one type of beef and you need to pay for the raw vegetables(lettuce). If you order the ala carte beef, then you get a complimentary plate of raw vegetable. I would say the food offered on the menu has varieties of Korean and Japanese dishes rather than authentic Japanese food.We ordered 2 plates of raw lettuce with garlic slices. We were served with thin slices of marinated beef and grilled them on a charcoal grill set in the middle of the table. The grilled beef was dipped in the soybean based sauce, accompanied by a slice of raw garlic and wrapped in the lettuce. Yummy. It seems to me that this is more like Korean dish more than...
