Fruit stalls behind Chung Hwa Hospital

by sunshine_01

There were many fruit stalls located behind Chung Hwa Hospital (near to Fuente Osmena). Each type of fruits are stacked up neatly which resembles rows and rows of pyramid. You are able to find the native fruits here. The native fruits include: mango, mangosteen, durian, nanka(jackfruit), lanzones, marang, avocado etc.We know that mangos are Philippines' famous export, however, we didn't know that avocado is their native fruit too. When we were in Cebu during August, it was the avacado season and the size of the avocados are huge. Coming from an Asian country, we hardly consider bananas, coconut, or mangoes as exotic fruits. What caught our eye was a fruit named Marang. It has a prickly tough shell, brown and round in shape. Marang is a relative of Nanka (jackfruit). Marang's flesh is sweet, soft and juicy and it's texture is somewhat similar to Chempedak and yet it's taste is so...

Cebu Malls: Easy Way Out!

by monina_c

If you don't want to spend your time going around Cebu to find some local pasalubongs, you can always take the easiest way out! Go to the malls! Most major malls in Metro Manila has a branch in Cebu. Check out:1. SM Cebu located in North Reclamation Area, Cebu City, 2. Robinson's Place in the middle of three major streets (Fuente Osmeña Ave., Gen. Maxilom Ave. and F. Ramos St), and 3. Ayala Center Mall in Ayala Business Park, Cebu City

Tabuan Market: Dried Fish Galore!

by monina_c

Tabuan Market is where you'll find a large variety of dried foodstuff. They only used to sell dried fish but nowadays they have, pork rinds, dried mangoes, etc. Something for everybody. But of course the main item on sale is still the dried fish (danggit, tuyo, dilis, etc), the street is lined with stores vying for customers. You have to be good at haggling to get a good price. Warning: after going through the stores in Tabuan, be sure to go back to your hotel room to shower and change first before going anywhere else. The special smells of the market clings stubbornly to the body and clothes! :D Danggit, dried pusit, dried mangoes

Shops around the Fuente Osmena: Shopping

by monina_c

If you need pasalubong and other presents for people back home, you can easily get then in the shops lining the Fuente Osmena Rotonda. Most shops (e.g. Shamrock) selling local products have outlets here. Otap, Dried mangoes, crispy pork rind. :)

Matmat Stall at Rotunda: Chicharon Baboy from Carcar

by bike_packer

The tempting smell and mouth-watering sight of this Carcaranon delicacy sold at various stalls within the town center could make any visitor too restless for a crunchy bite. Many road travellers stop to buy in bulk, I observed. Been produced for the last 50 years, there must be a very good reason why it is still briskly selling. It is a good "pasalubong" stuff, I suggest. Chicharon Baboy as a tasty snack while driving down the road. Or pulutan come beer-drinking time. P250 for half-a-kilo pack.

Alegra Guitr Factory: Alegra Guitar Factory

by sfphototraveller

I purchased a $ 480 Dollar Alegre Classic acostic Pickup guitar at the Alegre Guitar factory. There handmade with different types of wood. Mines can be played with or without and amp connected to the guitar. There are many other factories that hand make guitars near the factory that most taxi drivers can take you. They have different prices, My guitar included case to ship back home.

R&M Dried Mangoes: Mango Tango

by yellowbell

R&M Dried Mangoes and Puree are my favorite buys in Cebu. R&M also sells dried jackfruit and pineapple but so far the dried jackfruit I've tasted in Ho Chi Minh is the best. The individually-wrapped mango candies are great pasalubong (local term for give-away) to kids.Pick them out in local SM Grocery Store or ask your hotel to contact R&M factory for you. R&M can even deliver dried mangoes and puree (in plastic containers) at your doorstep.

Ayala shopping mall: All in one

by anders1975

This shopping mall is the newest and biggest in Cebu. It has everything from good restaurants (especially a Mexican one), entertainment section with cinema and what most people come for: every major store and known brand under one roof (Nike, Adidas, Esprit, Lee, Lacoste, Levis etc). It's a four storey mall. Whatever you like, I guess... Most brands here are authentic, but in some discount stores or department stores you'll find fake Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, Lacoste, Armani etc very cheap. Both jeans and shirts - female/male. For instance you'll get a par of Diesel jeans for 900 pesos (about USD14). You'll soon learn the meaning of 'shop till you drop'

Ayala center and cinema: One of Cebu's best

by mickshe

One of my favorite past time is shopping, i guess all girls do.so i proudly recommend this mall.all the things you needed and wanted are here..from signature items to souveneirs.what is most important is its cheaper than malls in Manila.
