Mawab Travel Guide

Getting to Mawab is by bus from Davao or bus or jeepney from Tagum. Travel to the barrios of Mawab is either by jeepney or tricycle. Very few people in Mawab own a car but low powered motorcyles can be found privately owned.

Favorite thing: Mawab is a small town with lots of even smaller barrios. It claim to fame is the Cavanish Banana plantation. It is a located on the main highway heading north out of Davao City. There are many other fruits grown around there and sold at the roadside stands on the highway. Also there is a good supply of the local drink called tuba producted there. Tuba is usually available in a glass gallon jug. It will set on the counter and bubble and fizz for hours. It is alway drank warm and I am told has a very powerful kick. Thankfully women were not required to prove anything so I didn't have to try it. But I was told it is an aquired taste and leaves very nasty hangovers. Eventually it turns to vinegar and then it is used to cook with and for marinating of fish.
