Public Transport From Pagudpud To Bangui

by cyndymc Updated Nov 7, 2011

I have an adventurous friend who loved to do solo DIY trips. He had patience taking the public transportation to and around places. Let me share with you how he got his way around Bangui from Pagudpud.

From Saud Beach, he took a tricycle for a 15-minute ride to the town proper of Pagudpud. From there, he got a bus bound for Laoag City. Most of the buses park near the Pagudpud Pubic Market. He asked the conductor to drop him off at the nearest point to Bangui Windmill Farm. He was dropped-off at a waiting shed along the highway at Brgy. Baruyen. Travel time was about 30 minutes. The spot was still far from the shore of Bangui Bay. He hired a tricycle for P100 to be brought to the Windmill Farm and later to the Bangui View Deck along the highway.

    Tricycles

There is not a lot of transportation going directly to the Bangui Windmills. For tourists, they have to go to the town first, hire a tricycle or a jeep. It is very costly to hire a jeep so it is best to contract a tricycle (local transportation- a motorcycle with a passenger cab attached to it. It's kind of like the "tuktuks" in Thailand).

The price ranges depending on where you got the tricycle. If it is close to the junction of the road going to the beach, the roundtrip fare is probably a hundred pesos but it is best to ask the tricycle driver to wait for you until you are done taking pictures or buying your souvenirs. The fares are usually negotiable.

    Chartered Air-conditioned Van

by cyndymc Written Nov 7, 2011
Our Van Dwarfed By The Wind Turbine

For convenience, we chartered an air-conditioned van to take us from Pagudpud to Bangui. That way, we didn't have a problem waiting for a ride to and from Bangui Bay area. We were a group of 11 adults so the P2,000 van rental was cost effective and good enough for us; it amounted to less than P200/pax. The road to the Windmill Farm wasn't concrete, but our van brought us safe and sound to Bangui Bay and back to Pagudpud.

We didn't know a particular person who rented out vans. A photo buddy just searched for vehicles for hire in Ilocos Norte and haggled with the contacts. You can do the same. The van we got didn't have an efficient air-conditioning unit so I can't recommend it.
