Be clear with what you want

If you are not clear with what you want or expect, you might end up paying more than what you've bargained for.

Fun Alternatives: If you are taking the tricycle tour and are negotiating with the trike driver, be very specific with the places you want to visit before striking an agreement on the price. If you don't do this, the driver might ask for additional payment on a whim. Better ask the resort staff to make the arrangements for you. If you're going to Kaibigan Falls, there's an entrance fee of 20 pesos per person but you are expected to tip the guide.

nice place, bad food

La Helene restaurant of Apo Idon is a place where you should be wary of. It is enticing with a nice view of the beach. But the food is not very good, served after a long time, understaffed, and insensitive staff.

Unique Suggestions: Just don't eat there. Terra Rika's restaurant which is right next to it offers the same food, about the same rate and the staff are very courteous. I mean food that is served after some time would be bearable if the people that assist you are courteous and you know that the food is worth the wait.

Fun Alternatives: Terra Rika's restaurant, good food, good prices, good staff. Kudos to the owner and his staff.

Never take RAJAN bus line to Pagudpud.

Take Farinas or Partas bus. Never ever take the Rajan bus to Pagudpud. This is the bus line owned by the owners of Arinaya resort. On our way to Pagudpud, the airconditioning of the bus faltered. Eventually, the bus conked out somewhere in Ilocos Sur. We were told that another bus was on its way to fetch us. After waiting for 4 hours, we decided to go to the resort by ourselves. It turned out that there was no bus scheduled to pick up the stranded passengers. They had to wait for the bus to get fixed... that bus reached Pagudpud at 3:00PM.... hey, that bus left Manila at 7:00 pm the previous night. Whoa!!! ;-p

Unique Suggestions: If the bus breaks down in the middle of your trip, be prepared to continue the trip on your own. We wasted 4 hours waiting for the bus (that never came) to pick up the stranded passengers. People in Ilocos were very accommodating and gracious enough to give out directions.
