My mother brings us here on Sundays after going to church and after we have done our weekend food shopping. Halo-halo is a Filipino desert (kind of). It is a conconction of different flavors and taste. Sugar, condensed milk, evaporated milk, coconut juice, fresh coconut meat, black and brown beans, macapuno, cubed sweet yams and jello are mixed together with shave ice. It is served in a tall glass with a tall spoon! On top of the shave ice is garnished with ube (yam) or custard/egg pie! This is good to eat in the summer time to beat the heat!
There are two sisters who managed and own this place. They are the Llanes' sister's
Chow-King is a fast food restaurant seen all over the Philippines. The restaurant is located at the Candon Supermarket - where the PNB used to be twenty years ago. The hard thing about the restaurant is there are only three spots for parking in front of the restaurant so you have to look around for parking your car! Or better still, it is better to take the bus or jeep going to Candon.
It is best to sit at the second level of the restaurant than on the first floor because the restaurant is usually packed on the weekends when the residents go to the town to do their shopping.
Favorite Dish: I like the pancit canton and the halo-halo. Pancit canton is a Chinese noodle mixed with cabbage, carrots, fish balls and some chicken or pork on it. It is sauteed in garlic and onions topped with "calamansi" (lemon) and green onions.
Halo-halo is also a great "merienda" (snack). It is shaved ice mixed with different toppings like coconut meat, "leche-flan", ice cream, etc.
Jollibee is a fast food restaurant that caters to the Filipino taste. It's like McDonald. The only difference is that in their menu, rice is included. They have great fried chicken, spaghetti, french fries, etc.
Jollibee opened in Candon City on October 18, 2002. It is one of the fast food restaurant established in the city.
Favorite Dish: Fried chicken with rice.
This chain of American restaurant reached all the way to the Philippines! It was opened in Candon City on November 2001!
However, the local McDonald have customized the local's taste buds to change their menus.
They have sweet spaghetti, hamburger, french fries, etc. But, if you are American and used to the original McDonald in the U.S., you will find the menu different!
Favorite Dish: The Filipinized spaghetti
