  • van to vigan, laoag and pagudpud

by fsales Written Dec 4, 2013

if you are planning to go to Vigan and pagudpud then i recommend to hire the van of kuya ronie. he is the driver and photographer as well as a good tourist guide so no need to hire a tourist guide anymore..he is very gentle and helpful with our needs during our vacation in ilocos region.
he is very careful in driving his van and very cool aircon as well as equipped with wifi. when my my phone battery went down, he told me not to worry because the van is also equipped with inverter 220 volts so i was very happy to take pictures and videos even uploading to my fb using his inverter to power my laptop.
he has a preset itineraries to choose and these are the following:
    City tour @ PHP 2,500
    Malacanan Palace of the north
    Paoay church
    Marcos museum
    Bell sinking tower
Sandboarding ( Lapaz or Paoay )

    Vigan Tour

by wabufamy Written Apr 21, 2012

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The trip to Ilocos Sur from Manila takes 8 hours on a good day, but can stretch hours more, depending on the traffic flow. However, bringing your own car makes it easier to get around the province, since the tourist spots are towns away from each other. Although if you intend to go only to one town, like Vigan, for instance, where there is an abundance of tricycles to take you anywhere, with the driver as your tourist guide. But you'd have to sacrifice comfort, as the trikes are small and the ride, bumpy. Our driver charged P60.00 to take us to Baluarte and Hidden Garden.
You can also opt to take the calesa for the town tour. It costs more than the tricycle ride, but the novelty makes it more than worth it.

"Partas" from the Persian word "Satrap"

by maribeldizon Updated Mar 26, 2011

First time to travel by bus to a distant place since like forever, and it was not at all bad:). We took the 10:00pm trip of Partas to Vigan (fare was P500 or P550). The bus left almost on time and slept throughout the 8-hr trip.

For our R/T we took an afternoon trip (2pm) and i promised myself not to do the same again. took us 10 hours! Lesson is take the night trip.

  • Trip to Santa Maria, Ilocos SUR from Manila

by gregmcbride Written Jun 30, 2008

I actually have a related question for asianbelle: I need to know about the cost of the bus trip to Santa Maria in Ilocos SUR. My son lives there, and his uncle said to take the bus to Partas.
Do you know the total cost, duration of travel?
I was told it is a 9 hour trip.
Details appreciated--I tentatively plan to leave the latter part of November or first of December.
    Thanks,
    Greg

    Callesa for roaming around

by xynna Written Apr 14, 2005

It was my first time to ride in a Callesa, and it was an experience truly wonderful. Imagine you're in a callesa and wondering aroun the village of nowhere. I feel that I was transported in some other place and time. At the cost of 150 pesos you can have a tour of the whole town, from the Heritage Village, to Chavit Singson's balaurte, to Crisologo's museum and to the pottery.
