    No Name store: Moriones Souvenirs

    Morion Masks for sale

Although it has no name, this shop is a must see and it's the main place/factory where the Morion masks are exported then sold in the city and to the nearby towns. The shop seems like an old house where the owner resides with his family but I believe he lives upstairs.

You can easily locate this shop in the central town of Torrijos. A prominent landmark of the shop is the big Morion statue on its corner and I noticed 3 unfinished statues lying on the sides- 2 replicas of Dr. Jose Rizal and a Morion. I just wasn't able to ask the owner about it.

I would recommend that once an item caught your eye, you have to buy it immediately because the shop runs out of these in an instant. You mustn't wait for tomorrow or else you'll regret it!The best thing about the items they sell is that all are hand made. The masks are also painted by the owner and I believe the woman we saw, is his wife.

What to buy: There are various souvenir items you can choose from- Morion keychains, Morion pencils,Morion fans, Morion masks and swords... all on its original price. Once these souvenir items get out of the shop, the price goes higher x 2 or more. There are 2 types of masks, one that covers only the face and the other one look like a helmet, which is what the people wear to participate in the Moriones Festival. I bought 3 Morion masks (covers only the face) at 50php each only. The mask that encloses the head costs 100Php. The keychains and pencils cost 35Php.
